I assumed it was to run more time off the clock and technically it did.

It is from all the crap Ron heard about not going for it on 4th down.  He said screw it - I am going for this one too.

It WAS a mercy call. We were up 38 points.

Then I don't like it....

Coughlin certainly didn't come back after it and run the clock out as a thank you.

I thought it was completely obvious why we did that. This wasn't obvious to people?

"Now's not the time to rub it in, take a knee and run the clock out"

-John Madden, Madden 10 when "asking madden" what play you should call when you are up by quite a bit and less then two minutes to go in the game.

Respect. No need to add more points. Notice they put painter in at QB on that series?

Yeah man, he sure tried to put some huge numbers on the board by putting Curtis Painter in at QB and having him heave wounded ducks into the secondary.

Get the fug outta here.

Were they going to score 39 points in 4 minutes? Grab a clue. And actually they did run the ball instead of chunking it deep so yeah, yeah he did do exactly that.

Who cares? With 4 minutes left, we were celebrating the win. The Panthers had already run away with the game.

I questioned it at first take but immediately realized after it was just a draw to Tolbert why kick a field goal and run up the score to 41 when you clearly have the game in hand and wont need anymore points. It was just RR trying to be classy during a stomping.
