It WAS a mercy call. We were up 38 points.

Then I don't like it....

Coughlin certainly didn't come back after it and run the clock out as a thank you.

I thought it was completely obvious why we did that. This wasn't obvious to people?

"Now's not the time to rub it in, take a knee and run the clock out"

-John Madden, Madden 10 when "asking madden" what play you should call when you are up by quite a bit and less then two minutes to go in the game.

Respect. No need to add more points. Notice they put painter in at QB on that series?

Yeah man, he sure tried to put some huge numbers on the board by putting Curtis Painter in at QB and having him heave wounded ducks into the secondary.

Get the fug outta here.

Were they going to score 39 points in 4 minutes? Grab a clue. And actually they did run the ball instead of chunking it deep so yeah, yeah he did do exactly that.

Who cares? With 4 minutes left, we were celebrating the win. The Panthers had already run away with the game.

I questioned it at first take but immediately realized after it was just a draw to Tolbert why kick a field goal and run up the score to 41 when you clearly have the game in hand and wont need anymore points. It was just RR trying to be classy during a stomping.

I don't get what's so confusing? It was a mercy call and a pretty class move by Ron

I just wanted the shutout, I would have preferred a play with an opportunity to get a first down, then run it out with kneel downs.  No more points, just pick it up and end the game.

Okay, fine.

I just see all these people talking about wanting "killer instinct Ron" and he opts out of FGs and just gives the opponent the ball out of "mercy".

I don't like that at the NFL level. Opposing coach didn't counter and say that he would out of respect for that just run the clock out.

Our announcers even included a former NFL HC.....and it being a "mercy" offering didn't even cross his mind. I didn't like it....others can
