I can't believe this really happened. I glanced at that thread and thought it was just a baseless rumor.

I'm shocked. Actually kind of pissed. I know it had to happen sooner or later though. Ohwell...

Nah, I'll go the safe route and order them online where I know they are official.

Thanks though

Good Luck Jon,   You were a class act here and I am sad to see you go.

Now hopefully Gettleman will use that pick and pull a gem.

Where does it say that? (Unless it's in the Joe Person "article" which I chose not to read)

Saves a lot more than that.

He is going to make $6.5 million next year.  Very Nice trade Gettleman

 2014: $6.5 million, 2015: $7.5 million, 2016: $8.75 million, 2017: Free Agent

I believe that you are wrong. They re-structured him and it voided the rest of the contract. He was supposed to be FA after this year

You're right I am wrong his cap hit would have been 10.75 in 2014.  Which makes the trade even better!

Details on Jon Beason's restructured deal

Beason
I just got a glance at the details of the contract Carolina Panthers linebacker Jon Beason restructured earlier this week.

It’s pretty simple. Beason took a significant pay cut and didn’t recoup any of it with up front money.

Under the new deal, Beason’s base salary for this year dropped from $5.25 million to $1 million, which is fully guaranteed. That drops Beason’s cap figure for this year from $9.5 million to $6.1 million. Beason can recoup $1.75 million if he is active for all 16 games.

The rest of Beason’s contract, which runs through 2016, remained untouched. That means there’s a good chance Beason will have to restructure again next year because his 2014 cap figure is $10.75 million.

The Panthers now are $12.8 million under this year’s cap.

Base salary is 6.5 but his signing bonus is prorated so he is due 4.0 million also next season.

First of all, the base salary is not guaranteed. Second, his prorated bonus charges still hit us. He's already been paid that money and it is just an accounting figure right now. Unfortunately, it is a figure we can't just make go away by trading or cutting him.

Here's a site that breaks down his contract. I'll copy and paste the data but I doubt it will be user friendly so I'll include the link as well

Actually you're totally wrong about his restructure!

http://www.catscratchreader.com/2013/8/20/4640822/jon-beason-contract-void-carolina-panthers

Confusion mounted Tuesday morning as information emerged surrounding Jon Beason's restructured deal, which happened shortly before the Panthers joined for training camp in late-July. Now we have a better idea, as this season will likely be Beason's last in Carolina. His contract will be made void before the beginning of next season. Joel Corry was the first to report the details of the deal, which will go into effect in February of 2014.

The Panthers and Beason are two sides moving in opposite directions. Carolina have committed fully to Luke Kuechly being their future at middle linebacker, and while Beason will play on the weakside in 2013, it doesn't play to his strengths as a player. This allows him to move past the Panthers, and gamble that his performance this year will sell his ability on the open market.

I knew I wasn't trippin
