Game 1: Hurricanes vs. Red Wings

Welp...

It's game day folks!!!

The Hurricanes will begin their quest for a Stanley Cup tonight against the Detroit Red Wings. The Red Wings are coming off of a 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres where Ryan Miller actually kept the score much closer than it should have been.

As far as the Hurricanes are concerned, they are flying under the radar this year and are featuring quite a few new faces, hopefully the sweet tea line (Tlusty - E. Staal - Semin) will continue their success as other players begin to step up.

P.S. I will be at the game as I made the trip down from Lynchburg for fall break so I will not be chatting with you guys tonight.

What: Carolina Hurricanes vs. Detroit Red Wings

When: 7:00 P.M.

Where: PNC Arena (Raleigh, NC)

TV: Fox Sports Caroinas

Giveaway (For Those Going): Hurricanes Jersey Draw String Bag

Projected Lineup

Jiri Tlusty - Eric Staal - Alexander Semin

Nathan Gerbe - Jordan Staal - Patrick Dwyer

Jeff Skinner - Riley Nash - Radek Dvorak

Brett Sutter - Elias Lindholm - Drayson Bowman

Kevin Westgarth

Andrej Sekera - Justin Faulk

Jay Harrison - Ryan Murphy

Brett Bellemore - Ron Hainsey

Mike Komisarek

Go Canes!!!

Do you think Bellemore and Murphy genuinely beat out Komi for the defensive start or do you think Muller is giving them an early season look?  It bothers me that he's the extra right now.  Hopefully we can get Gleason back soon and hopefully he's in better shape than he was last year.

That's just what they have been going with in the morning skates.

The projected line up is based off of the Hurricanes depth chart and the tweets from Chip Alexander and Michael Smith.

Tweeted just a few minutes ago.

@MSmithCanes: Kevin Westgarth and Mike Komisarek stayed on the ice to work with Brind'Amour and are the healthy extras.

wow...what a goal

my dad, who lives in Ann Arbor, will call it a garbage goal, but I'll take it.  Detroit has looked in control of this game, and we've looked like we're just trying to keep up.  Took advantage on that one.

Detroit owned the 1st period, but we own the score board.  I'd like to seem some better puck control in period 2.  Detroit is outworking us on both ends right now.
