The only reason many coaches will find Carolina an attractive place is BECAUSE of Cam and Kuechly.

Talent means nothing if you can't turn it into wins.  I'd rather have Jake Delhomme and win than Cam Newton and lose.

I love Jake, but put Cam Newton at QB on those teams that Jake played for and watch what happens.  There's a Lombardi in Charlotte already if that was the case.

This is my feeling as well.  I think Cam is actually one of the pieces that would make Carolina attractive to potential head coach candidates.

That's a huge stretch man...Cam Newton doesn't have anywhere near the amount of moxie Jake Delhomme had.  In his prime, Jake was as clutch as Joe Montana.  Cam Newton has all the talent in the world but I wouldn't want the ball in his hands with the game on the line.  Cam is the type of QB that needs to blow out all the teams he plays to be a winner...and that needs to change FAST.

i hope we dont bring in a coaching staff that is that bad.... talking about ruining someone's career, look what Shiano did to Freeman.

As clutch as Joe Montana?  Whoa... easy there bro.

We won games under Jake by pounding the ball on the ground and asking him to make just enough plays to win.  How many would-be game winning drives by Cam have we seen Rivera and company piss away with insanely conservative coaching at the ends of games?  With Cam and the talent at QB to actually open up the offense, those Jake-era teams would've been scary as hell.

seems like it would be a lot easier, or a lot less work to build a proper team around rather than start from scratch and HOPE a new QB can play

Alright alright I let the homer in me get out of control....but Jake had some incredible comeback victories that Cam has none of.  You might be right that if Cam played under a John Fox team (who was also an insanely conservative head coach) they would be scary, but I still think you'd see similar results.  Different situation, but he's still the same person. I know he's young but after three years, we've yet to see anything resembling a clutch victory.  You can place the blame on Rivera but Cam is the one out there making the throws...so you have to start looking at the QB at some point.  He had some bad luck on Sunday with the drops and he started to force throws at the end of the game...but this isn't a new development.

no.

from the first second he stepped on the field against jacksonville in 2003, jake delhomme was the reason why the teams he was under center in carolina were successful.

My point was that how many times have we seen Cam Newton leave the field for the last time late in a game with a lead only to watch the defense and Rivera's gutless prevent D give the game away?  Jake had a better OL, better receivers, and a better D.

Like I said, I'm not knocked Jake one bit.  I love the guy.  I wish Cam had some of that same fire in him, but that isn't necessary to win in this league.  You don't see Peyton Manning acting like a cheerleader or screaming at teammates.  Not everyone has to be that style of leader.
