This will be a recurring feature after every close game this year: How did the Panthers and Cam Newton play in crunch time? Let's get caught up to speed:

vs. Seattle

(Panthers began 4th with a 2nd & 20 from their 32)

Newton complete to Olsen for 8

Newton run for 10

Punt

Panthers at 10:13 at their 20

Newton incomplete for Smith

Williams run for 3

Newton complete to Tolbert for -6 yards, personal foul gives team 1st down

Williams run for 10, personal foul tacks on another 15

Williams run for 4

Newton run for 5

Tolbert run for 2

Williams run for 8

Williams run for 16, fumble at 5:25

Panthers don't get ball back the rest of the game

Cam: 2/3 for 2 yards, 0 points

vs. Buffalo

(Panthers began 4th with a 3rd & 1 from the Buffalo 7)

Newton run for 3

Newton complete to LaFell for -5 yards

Williams run for no gain

Newton incomplete to Smith

Field goal good

Panthers at 12:24 at Buffalo 26 following a Kuechly pick

Williams run for 1

Newton incomplete to LaFell

Newton complete to Olsen for 13

Williams run for 1

Williams run for 5

Newton sacked

Field goal good

Panthers at 7:13 at own 20

Newton complete to Olsen for 15

Tolbert run for 5

Williams run for 3

Newton run for 4

Williams run for 5

Williams run for 7

Tolbert run for 9

Tolbert run for 2

Williams run for 5

Williams run for no gain

Tolbert run for 4

Field goal good

Panthers at 0:02 at own 40

Newton sacked

Cam: 3/5 for 23 yards, sacked twice, 3 field goals

vs. Arizona

(Panthers began 3rd & 3 from Arizona 11)

Newton pass intercepted by Washington, intended for Smith

Panthers at 13:11 at own 6

Williams run for 4

Williams run for 9

Newton incomplete for Ginn

Tolbert run for 3

Newton sacked

Punt

Panthers at 3:38 from own 31

Newton complete to Smith for 18

Newton incomplete for Edwards

Newton complete to Ginn for 11

Newton incomplete for LaFell

Newton sacked, fumbles

(I'm not counting the last possession, happened when we were down by more than 2 scores with 2:22 left)

Cam: 2/6 for 29 yards, 1 interception, 1 fumble, sacked twice, 0 points

So how has Cam done this season in the 4th quarter of games within 1 score:

7/14 for 54 yards (3.8 ypa), 1 interception, 1 fumble, 4 sacks, 9 total points in those 3 games, 0 touchdowns

Thoughts so far? This will be updated each week we have a close game to see how he does.

Seems like a lot of work to highlight something we already know.

No, at least half the people on here keep telling me Cam is awesome and they'd rather have him than any other QB, even in the 4th.

You're the most vocal when Cam plays bad, look at this guy's threads/posts and tell me how inactive he is when Cam is playing good.

This guy disappears for long lengths of time and comes back when he thinks the coast is clear to drag Cam through the mud.

You were on the same campaign the first half of last season and magically disappeared when he was playing very well.

He's no different than many of these other characters that have popped back up recently. Troll city here.

Yep. At one point I thought he was gone for good. Cam hating season is in full effect.

Love the Cam Supporters logic.....give Cam all the credit when the team wins yet none of the blame when they lose.

yeah I don't know who it is telling you they'd rather have Cam than any other QB period, most of us are just pointing out that ridiculous, limited, out-of-context comparisons (Like "Manning makes HIS receivers look awesome, why can't Cam?!" or "2-14 record in close games hurr down with Cam") don't really tell us anything at all about him.  He's a good, young, QB, and I am happy to have him, and considering what we've given him to work with I'm not surprised our offense is struggling at times.  Given context of the games themselves, his play in the 4th quarter doesn't seem that bad at all.

Seattle's a good example of this... See if you can figure out why!

Love Cam haters logic: leave the site when Cam is playing well, pour it on him and posts tons of threads on the same thing when he's playing bad. You aren't a fan if you do that, just a hater.

You got to love the Cam haters logic.  When Carolina wins, it is in spite of Cam or because the other team sucks.  When Carolina loses, it is all on Cam because good QBs win in spite of the lack of play makers, blocking, and coaching.

It's as if he couldn't POSSIBLY BE a part of the problem.
