Basically this. At 9pm I sat and really contemplated watching baseball, football, or Walking Dead. And I don't even like baseball. When new episodes of Breaking Bad or Mad Men are on, the world shuts down for an hour. I'm sticking with it, though. It's decent enough television and I've been watching since day one, episode one, so I feel some obligation to finish it out.

Exactly how I felt. It's still a good show, but it's losing me. I was more excited to watch Sopranos reruns on HBOGo after it finished.

I also couldn't watch without thinking Cutty and D'Angelo from the Wire had been transported into a world of zombies.

For the first time, disease seems to be slipping into the fold.

Something that should have happened a long time ago with all the blood, guts, open wounds, no meds...etc, but whatever.

Swine flu of some type?

You said that and it just dawned on me... I was thinking along the lines of the "zombie disease" for lack of a better term had become airborne... but they can die from anything and then they'll turn.

It's probably exactly what you said, some kind of swine flu or something...

That's what I would gather with the dead pig.  Kind of their way at throwing another trying-to-be-subtle-but-not-so-much hint.

I enjoyed the premier episode. The scene in the Big Lots/Walmart was really good even though it was pretty nonsensical.  I was kinda expecting the weird girl Rick found in the forest to be one of the Hunters from the comic series. If the show skips the Hunters storyline I'm going to be pissed because that story has tons of potential.

My only real gripe is that they've turned Tyrese into a pussy. They've pretty much completely botched him at this point.

I also kinda think that the whole flu angle is kinda lame.

Fans of the comics... we have your Abraham and Eugene casting news now...

All I will say is that they've already crapped the bed as far as sticking to canon at this point, so I'm not holding out my hopes that Abraham, Rosita, and Eugene are going to be anything spectacular.

They said something on Talking Dead about this and Gimple said so far he looks like a "pussy".  I think there's going to be some kind of event that turns him around.

here's Abraham:

Color me unimpressed. Dude is like a beefier version of Samwise Gamgee.

There's a scene in one of the previews that makes me think it is an incident similar to the comics.

Spoiler

Also, there is a scene of him and Rick fighting, I believe... Also one that looked like Daryl was clocking Rick, I think.

Also, another scene where the car gets trapped and Tyreese gets out with his hammer and is surrounded by walkers.

He looks suitable but I was expecting someone bigger muscle wise. It may just be the angle though. His look is irrelevant if they don't make him like the Abraham in the comics though. I have little faith because as you've said, they've went so far away from the comics now that it's hard to tell how Abraham will end up.
