You guys are asshole. This is a rebuilding franchise, idiots. Cam needs to move north. The south is not healthy for him.

Why Neg Rep needs to come back.

Fug that.

Since when are Luck and Roethlisberger "true pocket passers"

Both of those guys scramble quite a bit.

am I the only one that thinks this is a flawed and retarded comparison?

this might be valid if there were anywhere near as many teams using "non" "true pocket passers" as "true pocket passers."

you have to make plays from the pocket as a QB but the idea that you have to exclusively make them from the pocket is ridiculous....

And as someone pointed out in another thread (or earlier in this one), true pocket passers are nothing more than QB's that can't run. So the only thing separating Cam from those guys is he can actually use his legs as a weapon. I can't for the life of me figure out why that's a bad thing.

The new breed of QBs that can run well and pass well are tough to defend. The D often has to use a spy, effectively giving them 1 less defender than when they face a conventional offense.

to illustrate my point, if we list the total number of teams using "non-true-pocket-passers"startes, and list the teams with "true pocket passers" as starters, take a guess which list would be like oh five times larger...

This post right here is why some people should not post. Welcome to a clusterfug. To illustrate my point if we list the total number of prototypical LBs starting on NFL teams compared to non prototypical guess what's larger. In other words we should trade Luke while he still has some value. I mean you see what happened with that Thomas Davis guy.

I agree, it's not an accurate comparison, but what else do we have to compare it to. We have had "quote, un quote " running QB'S in the league before Cam, without a great deal of success. I think that DG just wants to win and is entertaining many different thoughts as how to make that happen. Cam can win with the right game plan and help. Instead of trying to make him a straight pocket passer, get an    o-line that can hold a pocket, call quicker developing pass routes and let Cam run when there's nothing there. Even this plan won't work every game, no plan will, you have to be able to adapt and this is our Achilles Hill...

Tbh and bring up something touchy can anyone name a black qb who didn't run???? for the most part the real difference is the ones who can pass and the ones who can't, Cam uses his legs to extend plays and occasionally scrambles Vick and RG3 scramble more but still uses there legs to extend plays. it's just a added threat, doesn't make those guys less of a passer just cause they scramble occasionally and don't stay in the pocket

Warren Moon.

Comparing their best years rushing-wise, Troy Aikman ran for more yards than Warren.

Do you think Troy Aikman was a "running QB"?

my point, people are so quick to label Cam as a running qb instead of a dual threat type of guy because there lazy, just like rg3, just like mcnair, just like cunnigham, ect when in reality the guys they compare them to are not similar to them your vince young, tebows, joe webb, troy smith ect all were lacking in the passing game.

but to answer your question no i don't, i see him as a dual threat just like i see Steve young.

I can give 2 shyts about 10 of 12 QB are pocket QBs.  Cam is a rare QB but his style is changing the game.  You cannot change the spots on a leopard.   Why in the world are we trying to make him stay in the Pocket.   When he runs he creates problems.  Even with a Spy you still cause problems.   His instinct is to run.  Let him run.  Our offense loosens up when he runs.   CAM loosens up when he runs.

Stop trying to make him something he isn't.   Staying in the pocket to a point.   Go after that.

Cam Newton is steadily progressing as a QB, and DG will not trade him. He is a special talent.

I think a few posters are getting so wrapped up in the early success of Luck/Wilson/Kap/RG3, that they forgot Cam Newton was a raw project QB coming out. The other QBs are alot closer to their ceilings than Cam is right now. He is still figuring this QB thing out. Be patient Panthers fans, he is close.

Also, he isn't the only reason this team is losing. Stop watching ESPN, they only show highlights or lowlights. Watch an entire game of ATL, NO, even DEN and NE. And you will see a ton of "WTF was that" passes by those teams' golden pocket passers. This Panther TEAM needs to learn to win. And something needs to change for that to happen. Usually, the coach dictates those close wins. Rarely is it the QB. The team down in New Orleans is a good recent example.

I know everyone wants a playmaker at WR, but the quickest/cheapest way to improve this offense is to improve the oline. Which, probably could have been done this offseason. You already have the most expensive positions covered (C and LT), and the LG position was looking respectable with Amini. I think a good RG and RT would make all the difference with this offense. But I can't get too down on DG, he did take care of the glaring hole on the defense, DT. And in a big way. I think one more offseason, and we'll be fine.

You make a great point about the Saints being a perfect illustration of how important coaching is to a team.  Even with the All Mighty Mole, the Saints were a crap team last year.  The year before and now this year they're kicking ass and taking names.  Someone would REALLY have to be wearing their blinders not to see that if even the Mole needs good coaching to be successful, expecting Cam to lead this team to winning records and playoffs with the shitstorm of a coaching staff we have is absurd.

Gettlemen recognizes what a POS Coaching staff is currently in Charlotte. (Hopefully)

When Getts installs his own staff next year he'll be able to evaluate Cam properly and make a decision on his future.

And Kat Scrratch Reeder? :lolu:

This is another article to add to their HOF.

I would not be surprised to see Cam traded for several picks in the off-season. I just don't think GMan thinks the team can win long term with him. We all will see a completely new look to the team if GMan gets his way. New coaching crew, new QB, and a bunch of draft picks are what's in his long term plan. This will also be Smittys last season in a Carolina uniform I think.

Well sometimes some threads need some abuse. I don't know if people are watching the games making it seem like Cam is some terrible QB that no market is willing to trade for. For an owner of a franchise Cam is money in the bank. People forget that this is a franchise that Andrew Luck avoided by staying an extra year in college. That means, he gave up 1 year of salary worth $5 million so he doesn't play for this franchise. This moronic fan-base need to recognize.
