Didn't Barner drop a pass right in his hands in the Arizona game?

Yep.  I guess he wasn't ready for the live bullets of the NFL.

I think, for all intents and purposes, we should stash Barner deep in our roster to see whether he'll develop into a Sproles type of scatback. Until then, we shouldn't hitch any hopes onto Barner. Let him grow.

At least somebody recognizes that Barner is a developmental project

He has upside, but I just couldn't believe the hype, led by Zod &CRA, this kid had. People were expecting him to be Sproles 2.0 and I just didn't see it. I would love to see Rivera ease him into things from this point forward. Rivera hated Goodson, but loves Barner and I don't see the difference between the two. They're very similar...

I dont understand why we just didnt get him some simple carries last week to get his feet wet instead of screens and option reads.

On the field....off the field Goodson has a lot of issues...apparently Barner does not.

Barner is doing what most small guys have to do in the NFL.  Get used to the increased physicality.  He will be more durable when he goes through an offseason weightlifting program and does what Smitty and others have done.  Get stronger which helps you be durable. This year he won't do much.  The problem was the people who expected so much of him, right out of the gate.  Sure the running back spot is not that hard to learn but it requires being able to take a beating and avoid injury.  Much harder for the little guys to do.

No such thing as a sixth round bust.

It's not like they invested the 3rd pick overall in the draft to get him, and then he averages something less than 3.5 ypc.

Low risk. Perhaps high reward with some patience.
