Andrew Luck can't afford to fail.

I liked Luck in college - he came from my alma maters conference. And was there when I was in school. He appeared to be a QB beyond his years there. However he had great coaches there behind him. I definitely wanted to see him finding success in the NFL as I wish all players coming from the Pac12 (except for USC QB's). But, the NFL and media have sensationalized him to where it's nearly sickening. I cannot imagine what it would have been like if he was alone in that draft and RG3 wasn't there to take some of the spotlight away.

I think given the high expectations and the comparisons to Manning - make it a bad situation for him to sink or swim. And it certainly doesnt help his cause with the statements made by Jim Irsay. Ir-say-WHAT?

Am I the only one who think it's weird that not only did they bring his TE from college to play with him but also his OC. Sounds like somebody need lots of support to uphold the hype. That's some weird sh!t.

That Oliver Luck probably have some big time connect.

Do you know how awesome it is to follow the failure of an over-hyped, talentless, need to be protected, dink & dunk QB on live TV? Too bad I didn't get to follow linart, quinn, sanchez, schaub, alex smith, to name a few, but I will not miss this opportunity. It's only a matter of time before they start asking him to put the ball up against non-prevent defense during a game. Come out, come out Luck, wherever you're. Show us that arm talent everyone's talking about. Nobody wants to know how smart you're as this is not NASA. This where men hit men.

Congrats on setting a new low.

These are easily some of the stupidest posts ever seen on this board.

Right along with Luck is a great QB statement I've read countless times on this board.

Except that he actually is. Doubt you could recognize that though. Based on your posts, everything you know about actual football probably wouldn't fit on a post it note.

But hey, keep trying. Just keep in mind that no matter how many thousand words you write trying to convince people Luck is bad, he'll still be one of the best (arguably the very best) young QBs in the league and on his way to what will likely be a brilliant career.

Nothing you say will change that, mind you , but feel free to continue on this idiotic crusade

If this were the 100 meter, Cam would leave Luck in the dust. Being that Newton have this freakishly long legs it takes a little longer to reach top speed. As you can see in this gif Cam starts to separate from him once he reaches top speed. Bolt has similar body type with Cam and he also starts too.

This is football, not track. Only the 40 time matters when it's gametime.

Still find it strange that some here can so passionately defend Luck, but when threads like this are about our QB, they're absent.

And all the Luck failure will start this year by them missing the playoffs. You heard it here first.

You might have a point here if the Colts played in a different division. Schaub is turning into Delhomme, Jacksonville is in full tank for Teddy mode. I guess you're insinuating that Tennessee gets it all figured out when Locker gets back?

Doubt there's that much thought put into it.

Frankly, I wouldn't bet on him even knowing what teams are in that division.

Serious question Red - Why do you feel that there is such a need to defend Cam? Other than the 5% of people that think Cam does everything right and the 5% of trolls that think he can do nothing right, aren't the other 80% just objective people that see the good and bad in him that they want to discuss just like most fanbases?

I guess I just don't see the media and fan vendetta against Cam (and the Panthers for that matter) that a fraction of other people see. I know it exists, but it is nothing like some would like to believe for whatever reason.

As you know, I am an Eagle fan (and the NFL in general)....I know fan vendetta against a QB and Cam has nothing on what McNabb was up against in Philly and he accomplished quite a bit during his tenure there.

This is the problem. There are some that act as if I am a big Cam homer that believes he has no flaws. That is unequivocally false. I don't create threads about the man, other people do, and they usually aren't very kind. Yes, I call them out for it, deservedly so honestly.

As for the media vendetta, I don't know if I would go quite that far to describe it. What I would say is that, there has become a common misconception about Cam as a player and an individual, a lazy narrative that many in the media apply to grab headlines and web hits.

I know you are an Eagles fan, yes sometimes I give you poo, but I feel your agony. On Mcnabb, to be fair, has Philly ever not been against a quarterback there? I'm being honest, you'd know better than me on the history. I always liked Mcnabb, except when we played him.

Overall I feel that many in this fan base have selective memory on just how bad we have been for years. So when I see people making asinine statements about moving on from a young quarterback without properly understanding the ramifications, it bothers me.

That was a fair and honest response. I can defintiely see your point of view now. It's obvious that you have a lot to contribute to conversations that go on around here, but sometimes it just seems to be masked by an big need to defend Cam at every turn. I can respect why that is after reading this.

As far as Eagle QB's go, I remember Randall Cunningham being loved by most people, at least by the people that could see past the color of his skin. He was entertaining and one hell of an athlete. Then again, if Al Gore had invented the internet back then he could have been hated as much as McNabb was. I remember watching Jaws play but was too young to get a handle or remember what people thought about him but I think he was disliked by many also. I won't get into Vick because that is layered with many different things both on and off the field.  Philly is a "different" place and their fans are "different" as well and the only thing I will defend about them is their passion. Most of the time that passion is misdirected unfortunately. Andy Reid took just as much heat as McNabb did if not more at times and I am sure those people are a bit more quiet now seeing what he has done in KC.

For the record, I hope all the young QB's succeed. Cam, Luck, Kaep, Dalton, Tannehill and even RGIII. It makes the league much more entertaining when there is quality competition on the field. There was nothing better than to watch Aikmen, Irvin, Emitt Smith, and co. come to town eventhough I knew they were going to kick the Eagles a$$ most likely.

I will say that out of that list,  Luck and Cam seem to have the "it" factor to take over the helm once the Mannings, Rodgers, and Brees' of the league leave. I'll take the "it" factor over stats any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Cam has come along way when it comes to that this year compared to the last two and I think he would be the first person to admit that was something he needed to work on.

Anyway, good response and hopefully for everyone's sake Cam can prove his doubters wrong and the focus can one day get to something more productive. Winning fixes everything and this will be no different once it happens. It wil be a win / win for everyone.

Great post. I will say that many Eagles fans that I have talked to have said they would be more than happy to have Cam come to Philly and to work in Chip Kelly's system if for some reason he leaves here.
