Andrew Luck can't afford to fail.

That was a fair and honest response. I can defintiely see your point of view now. It's obvious that you have a lot to contribute to conversations that go on around here, but sometimes it just seems to be masked by an big need to defend Cam at every turn. I can respect why that is after reading this.

As far as Eagle QB's go, I remember Randall Cunningham being loved by most people, at least by the people that could see past the color of his skin. He was entertaining and one hell of an athlete. Then again, if Al Gore had invented the internet back then he could have been hated as much as McNabb was. I remember watching Jaws play but was too young to get a handle or remember what people thought about him but I think he was disliked by many also. I won't get into Vick because that is layered with many different things both on and off the field.  Philly is a "different" place and their fans are "different" as well and the only thing I will defend about them is their passion. Most of the time that passion is misdirected unfortunately. Andy Reid took just as much heat as McNabb did if not more at times and I am sure those people are a bit more quiet now seeing what he has done in KC.

For the record, I hope all the young QB's succeed. Cam, Luck, Kaep, Dalton, Tannehill and even RGIII. It makes the league much more entertaining when there is quality competition on the field. There was nothing better than to watch Aikmen, Irvin, Emitt Smith, and co. come to town eventhough I knew they were going to kick the Eagles a$$ most likely.

I will say that out of that list,  Luck and Cam seem to have the "it" factor to take over the helm once the Mannings, Rodgers, and Brees' of the league leave. I'll take the "it" factor over stats any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Cam has come along way when it comes to that this year compared to the last two and I think he would be the first person to admit that was something he needed to work on.

Anyway, good response and hopefully for everyone's sake Cam can prove his doubters wrong and the focus can one day get to something more productive. Winning fixes everything and this will be no different once it happens. It wil be a win / win for everyone.

Unfortunately, many conversations about him here delve into back and forth fights. Yes I'm guilty of it, I certainly won't deny it, much of the time though I think it is amusing. It's not as if I am going to engage in fisticuffs with someone over their opinion on a complete stranger.

I share no animosity towards the other young QB's, I think Luck and Wilson particularly have bright futures.

Honestly though, with the recent immediate success of so many quarterbacks coming out of college, I think perception and expectations have gotten a bit out of hand though. Many of the current top QB's did not become who they are today within just a few seasons.

There's of course no way to tell yet which if any of these new QB's will take the step and become the next "great" QB. Everyone wants to talk about Peyton, but I'm not sure that is a very fair measuring stick at this point. There may never be another Peyton Manning.

In talking to different people about Cam that aren't Panthers fans, you sometimes get that they have bought into the media depiction, they don't know the real player. It's a shame that things have to be that way, but they are. I try to educate those which I meet on that.

On the Eagles, I think Andy Reid needed a change of scenery. Of course relocating to the the AFC west from the NFC east helps a bit. I'm not sure how Chip Kelly will do long term in the NFL, but I think you guys have solid pieces there that he should be able to utilize.

We don't always agree, but I feel you are a very knowledgeable individual when it comes to football in general. Good post.

Great post. I will say that many Eagles fans that I have talked to have said they would be more than happy to have Cam come to Philly and to work in Chip Kelly's system if for some reason he leaves here.

Add me to the list of "yes please". Cam has everything it takes to be a great QB from what I can tell. He hasn't handled adversity as well as he could have the last two years because he isn't accustom to losing at all. No fault of his, he just has never really had to deal with it in his young career until recently.

He is learning to deal with it as the Panther organization is (hopefully) working on putting the pieces together around him to succeed. If for some reason the two don't come together, I think he would have great success in Philly. Chip Kelly may not survive in Philly and Cam may not survive in Carolina but i can't help but to think if you put those two together, nothing but great things would happen. Pipe dream of course, but hypothetically speaking it would be interesting to see.

Don't understand where you get Luck is "lead-footed".

He's athletic and mobile in the pocket and has decent quicks in the open field. He seems pretty strong too.

Last year, Andrew Luck had 5 Rushing TD's, this year he has 2.

While not a speedster rushing, he can rush when he has to.

Except that he actually is. Doubt you could recognize that though. Based on your posts, everything you know about actual football probably wouldn't fit on a post it note.

But hey, keep trying. Just keep in mind that no matter how many thousand words you write trying to convince people Luck is bad, he'll still be one of the best (arguably the very best) young QBs in the league and on his way to what will likely be a brilliant career.

Nothing you say will change that, mind you , but feel free to continue on this idiotic crusade

We'll see about it that.

This is football, not track. Only the 40 time matters when it's gametime.

So it does matter? Carry on.

Still find it strange that some here can so passionately defend Luck, but when threads like this are about our QB, they're absent.

Weird, isn't it? I'm sure they have their 'reason' for it. These forums sure love their white QBs, no matter what team they play for. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

You might have a point here if the Colts played in a different division. Schaub is turning into Delhomme, Jacksonville is in full tank for Teddy mode. I guess you're insinuating that Tennessee gets it all figured out when Locker gets back?

Tennessee is no slacks even with fitzpatrick. The texans will also get it back on track.

Doubt there's that much thought put into it.

Frankly, I wouldn't bet on him even knowing what teams are in that division.

I think you're in the insulting mode. I sense that your feeling is hurt. So, Luck is really the last hope, uh? It's a sad way to look at it though. Oh well, stay hurt!

Serious question Red - Why do you feel that there is such a need to defend Cam? Other than the 5% of people that think Cam does everything right and the 5% of trolls that think he can do nothing right, aren't the other 80% just objective people that see the good and bad in him that they want to discuss just like most fanbases?

I guess I just don't see the media and fan vendetta against Cam (and the Panthers for that matter) that a fraction of other people see. I know it exists, but it is nothing like some would like to believe for whatever reason.

As you know, I am an Eagle fan (and the NFL in general)....I know fan vendetta against a QB and Cam has nothing on what McNabb was up against in Philly and he accomplished quite a bit during his tenure there.

Under a sh!tty environment of course that no human being deserves for just throwing a football. Thanks for killing your own argument though. It's there but it's not there, right? Thanks for playing though.

Being an eagle fan and all, why are you commenting on a panthers forum? Just curious. It feels so unnecessary.

I could not have put it better. And this the reason I created this thread. I wanna know the answer to those questions. Until I do, I will keep updating it. If I'm not seeing it on the football field from Luck maybe some of supporters can give us an answer. Picture speads louder than word, for Christ's sake. As of right now, Luck is not even making NFL throws. That is pathetic. He is throwing 5 yard passes and once or twice a game he heaves it to Hilton to the left corner of the endzone safely where the ball either hit out of bound or he makes a spectacular catch to put on Sportscenter. In fact, watch the game, if you can, on Sunday against Denver, he is gonna attempt that exact throw again.

I know he has family lineage in the NFL but the way they're going about supporting him is kind of extreme. They're making a mockery out of the sport. The dude is not every physically gifted in anyway while playing a very violent sport and they're shoving that garbage in our face. Garbage like that is a disrespect to the truly gifted players like Calvin Johnson and AJ Green. This is pathetic and an embarrassment. And when that talentless fool fails I'm sure they gonna blame the OC and get him fired. Get your pop corn ready, sir!

I was watching NFLN this morning and can't believe the load of BS they are selling us about Luck. I am completely disappointed with them trying to convince folks that the Colts was some struggling team before Luck came along. Let's be real, the team tanked it's 2011 season to get Luck. Anyone believe otherwise is foolish. They never had a decent QB and considering what the Owner is now stating, one shouldn't be surprised.

I have nothing against Luck but I fault those who seem to love dictating to us how we should see these players. All these so called Chosen QBs should be treated like the ones who are not so Chosen. Especially if they were drafted at number one. Why should Cam be anymore scrutinized and his every actions nit-picked because he was drafted at # 1, but Luck, who was also picked at # 1, is quietly getting the necessary help he needs to transition into a better NFL QB. We should be able to nitpick and scrutinize Luck the same way, especially since he's so chosen.
