Jon Beason "I Want To Retire A Giant"

67 posts in this topic

It's a good situation for him.  He walked onto a team that needed a defensive leader.  He knew his time was up in Carolina when they drafted Kuechly and he became a star.  Beason's a solid dude who deserves this.  I hope he does finish his career there and makes that defense respectable...in every game they don't play the Panthers.

He might be racking up tackles but he's not looked great. He gives up a ton of yards. From a medical standpoint he will never command a nice contract again. I'm sure he would love a new deal.

of course not.  I would fully expect him to say hes happy to be a Giant and hopes to be one for a long time.  But hes been a giant for a few weeks.  He has already given Carolina his blood sweat and tears.  He is a Carolina Panther at heart.  He may not have meant it the way I am interpreting it but saying he wants to retire a Giant after a couple of games feels like getting shanked .

Yeah cause if he retires a giant that means he played well enough for them to keep him for a while.

So if we got a conditional pick for him and he keeps up his play, anyone think we get a 3rd for him?

Yeah he's saying what he needs to and I don't blame him for it...

He's in the right spot to play to his skills and I'm happy for him.

I hope he continues to do well and gets a contract.

he'd say that about any team he got traded to, given his situation. that's what you're supposed to say.

esp. when he's on a one year contract.

the guy wants job security.

can't say i blame him.

    • What part of 0% doesn't make sense to you?  Where does this money tree exist to rain down compensation for these skillsets, good and services?
    • Man, I'm with you, I'm pumped as hell too, buttttt I can't bring myself to make any claims about a rookie being the best at anything in the entire league.  $hit, I hope he turns out to be though!
    • I was always under the impression that team president and GM were completely separate roles.  GM was for everything we all know and love about football as far as on the field product (players, etc.), and team president was more the operational side of the organization as a business, like marketing, ticket prices, what company to use to sell hot dogs in the stadium...stuff like that.  I could be very wrong though.
