I'd love to have him...for a better price that is. His contract is far too bloated for me to give up anything for him. Besides, if we picked him up it would only be a band aid. We still need to draft a #1 WR.

He would be an elite #2 for the next 6-7 years. I don't think that's a bandaid.

I doubt they'll find any takers, nobody wants to touch that contract.

Are you serious? He just beatdown the best corner in the NFL.

I didn't say he sucked or anything, I said his best years were behind him.  Obviously he's still damn good, but it's not like he has some upside... if anything it's likely all downhill from here on out.

We need to look to the future, not trade picks for a 30+ year old WR who is going to cost waaaay too much damn money.

Restructure.

And so what if he's 30? He's not a speed guy.

I'm thinking long term here. I wouldn't mind having him, but for the right price.

His contract is enormous, I think it's supposed to be 18 mil next season.

Spotrac says he is due to make $12.75 million next year.

@AdamSchefter: A trade for Cards WR Larry Fitzgerald will be in play this off-season, in likely event a deal not completed before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

@AdamSchefter: Come off-season, Larry Fitzgerald and Cards will be on clock, when some believe a divorce is somewhere between possible and inevitable.

In 2015 Fitz is due $8 million, in 2016 $15 million, in 2017 $14.75 million, in 2018 $14.75 million.

That's his cap hit. Which includes the signing bonus designation. Any team that acquired him via trade would only be on the hook for his base salary which is 12.7 in 2014 and 8 in 2015.

Of course it goes up to essentially 15 from 2016-18.

I believe Arizona would have to pick up $13 million of that next season but overall his contract is worth way too much.

Man you folks are out of your mind if you wouldn't take him IF he restructured his deal....and we all know Gettleman is a restructure kinda GM....and didn't have to give up a kings ransom in regards to draft picks. Having him on our team would probably have added two more wins for us this year.

Could you imagine Fitz across from Evans(draft), Smitty in the slot and Ginn running streaks in 4wr sets? I'm fittin to bust.

The only way this happens is if Fitz and Gettleman come to a prior agreement to restructure once a trade is complete. There's no way we trade for him with that contract if we run the risk of either having to pay him the full amount or cut him.

fitzgerald is worth every dime of his contract to a team with a competent qb.

If he wants to go to a contender, he won't get a big contract. That's not how it works. Players take paycuts to go to San Francisco and New England. He'll have to restructure his contract and then take a paycut in order for a trade to work.

Fitzgerald isn't a player that depends on speed. One of the last things to go is strength. For instance, Boldin is still beasting. Larry could play at a high level into his mid 30s. In addition, Shula's offense would only prolong his career.
