Yes. Strategically all our our contracts should be done with long term goals in mind. Structuring the guaranteed money/signing bonuses and base salaries in a way that makes us able to sign all of the core players. For instance this was a good year to resign Hardy because we could have rolled a lot of guaranteed salary money into this years cap which I think we are still 11 mill under the cap. Doing a deal with high base salary, guaranteed signing bonus, etc.. can lessen hits for future years. Factor in expiring contracts, players coming off the books, restructures, dead money, etc we can still keep our core must keep players.

I'm not so sure that we're going to re-sign him, anyways. And it's possible we came with an offer and he wants to wait to test free agency. But, tying players up long term is a way you put yourself in cap hell, which we are anyways.

That's something you never get over as a franchise.

We can't let that event dictate where we go as a franchise that was one man

So, go tell Robert Kraft that he should draft someone with a troubled history next year. Same situation. It leaves a black eye on your team for a long, long time.

That's the nature of the contracts and the pitfalls of any long term contract.   We are currently only paying 4.8 mill a year for the QB position.   2.9 mill for MLB.   I mentioned Hardy as someone I would think we would like to keep, but even excluding him there are some decisions to make long term or we are going to be in trouble.

All of that was before this. And irrelevant to the situation.

When something like this happens, it changes the way your front office thinks. It changes perspectives. I doubt the pats will draft anyone in a long time that has a checkered past.

Some people have this thing called self-respect and morals. Just because you have scumbags on your team doesn't mean you're going to win a damn thing (bengals, rams). It's better to build with a singular identity. And fill your locker room with like minded people.

We'll think what you want IMO we should get players who make a difference and not just get us by....I'm tired of mediocre I'm tired of coming up short.....don't beat a dead horse....failure to adapt leads to the same ole bs year in and year out

No, it isn't. Just ask anyone close to the panthers why we've never gone for a player who has an indecent past.

I assume that most of you who are saying this dumb poo weren't fans when the whole Rae thing went down. You came on later.

I have been a fan since 95. as far as I know , Carruth wasn't a known "problem guy" when they drafted him. I could be wrong, I've slept since then, but from what I remember that was what was so surprising about it.

If it is their reasoning, then I say that it is stupid.

How in the hell didn't he get out of bounds on that final play? That was dumb.
