It gets wrecked a lot in this forum. (& in life in general) Thus I figured there should be a thread to restore it, even if just  a little. So, feel free to comment & share.

The Teenager Who saved a Man With an SS Tattoo.

http://www.bbc.co.uk...gazine-24653643

So, the KKK was holding a rally in Michigan, in 1996. There was a counter protest rally. Someone noticed that a white guy with an SS tattoo, Confederate flag vest, CF t-shirt stating "You wear your X, I'll wear mine" (basically a guy dressed in a way that screamed Klansman) was standing in the crowd. He was pointed out & a bunch of people started chasing him. he was knocked to the ground & was about to catch one hell of an asswhuppin when an 18 year old black woman threw herself on him, shielded him with her body, and was able to break through the mob mentality & get the people to regain their higher brain function. She did this because "violence is violence", & wrong is wrong.

A few months later, a young man came up to her & said "Thank you." She asked what for & he said, "That guy you protected at the rally... That was my dad."

A Marine is running a 5K in boots & full ruck. A 9 year old boy who was also running got separated from his group & asked the Marine to run with him. The Marine not only ran with him, but encouraged him to continue on to the finish where he could find his group. (The Marine helped with that too.)

I am sorry but you will need to provide me with the political affiliations of the people involved in these stories so I know how I feel about them

LOL! I know it's a joke, but that is part of the reason I wanted to start this thread. That poo don't matter here.

Hell for all I know, all of these people have been and will be total assholes every other moment of their lives, but for at least one moment, they were wonderful human beings doing good.

& for the record, I plan to post something in this thread every day, at least for a while. I encourage others to do the same. Be it an article you ran across, a personal incident, something you just heard of... Just a little ray of light.

I seen this on the Today show, I think yesterday and thought it fits here.   There is a video and you can see people driving by this lady hanging off a bridge and doing nothing, and the worst is I think a bicycle rider drives literally feet by her and acts like it is normal to be hanging there.   Then a high school bus driver stops and talks her down.   I kept thinking that that was a wonderful example to set for a bunch of kids, especially high school kids, that can understand the situation.

Two stories I have seen recently of random people going out of their way to help others...

http://www.huffingto..._n_3604547.html

A 15-year-old boy who chased down an abducted child on Thursday in Lancaster, Penn., said he had a "feeling" in his stomach that he would find her.

Temar Boggs, a freshman at Lancaster's McCaskey High School, described to the Lancaster Intelligencer Journal what happened as he and a friend, Chris Garcia, pursued an unknown man who allegedlyhad abducted 5-year-old Jocelyn Rojas after promising to buy her ice cream.

http://shine.yahoo.c...-183032017.html

On Tuesday, postal worker Darrian Crutcher, 48, was making the rounds on his usual 10:30 a.m. route, when he noticed smoke billowing from the upstairs window of a home on Stansbury Street. “There was a young girl, around 12 years old, sitting on the front steps crying,” Crutcher tells Yahoo Shine. “She said her mother was inside the house, so I called 911." The dispatcher told Crutcher to make sure everyone was out of the home—and without a thought to his own safety, he walked inside and found the homeowner, Carolyn Patterson. “She was standing in the living room panicking, so I asked if she had a hose,” he says.

Great idea. I love the premise of this thread. A lot of what goes on in the tbox comes down to picking sides and this is one thread where it doesn't have to be that way

A soldier in Scotland & his buddy make a pact that if one of them dies, the other will wear a dress to his funeral. One dies, & the other?

Bonus one for tonight because I'm drunk & this has been making me laugh for the past 10 minutes.

Some of you may remember the white supremacist who moved to a small town in North Dakota & planned to make it a whites only town. Well he seemed to have forgotten that up around them parts live some badass mofos called Ogalala Lakota (Sioux). They give nary a fug as evidenced by a group of grandmas that took the nazi's fuggin flag...

This one is personal...

Back when I was in college, a local radio host (Boogie D from 102jamz) would have what he called the "Stuff the Bus" campaign every Christmas. He worked with the USMC & their Toys for Tots program living & working in a bus until if was filled with toys for poor kids.

My classmates & I (Theatre Dept) decided to do some extra shows to raise money for toys. My Army buddy who won the lottery (Pretty sure I've mentioned it here but feel free to ask because I could live to be a million & I still won't be tired of telling that story) offered to match what we raised. When everything shook out, I was the only one left in town to do the shopping to pick up the toys.

I go to Toys R Us & since I'm trying to get as many toys as I can, I keep the price limit around $10 per figuring I can get cool poo & good variety. I fill up  one cart pretty quick. I take it to the service desk, explain what I'm doing, & ask if they can just watch it since I'm gonna be here a while. The manger overhears, & offers to help me by dividing the job between the two of us.

While we are doing this word spreads, about why there are a bunch of carts near the front of the store. When I go to check out, they open a register for my 15 carts (It was about 2 weeks before Christmas, so they were fairly busy), & we do that. THEN they point to about 12 more carts. While we were shopping, people were talking & a bunch of people I never even saw brought toys for me to take to the bus.

They wouldn't all fit in my car, so a guy with a truck that has a camper shell offers to take the rest. We get there & Boogie & the Marines see all of the toys & ask me about the donation. I tell them & everyone chokes up. While they're unloading everything, a Marine notices the Army sticker in my window and says "Not bad Army!" Later after many trips & his realizing how many toys there were, his mouth works & he sniffles a bit. I ask "You alright there Staff Sgt.? "Shaddap Army... Oorah."

A girl who's brain works on a 3rd grade level is going to a special class in a high school. She gets bullied, doesn't want to go any more. Her mom reaches out to the QB of the football team because he worked with the girl when she went to the Special Olympics. Asked him check up on her every once in a while. Instead, he and the football team started hanging out with her on a regular basis, including eating lunch with her everyday.

Funny thing, the bullying stopped.
