Smith came back and played one of his better halves of the year.

Get off his back. He had some big plays! That 3rd down conversion and getting us into FG range twice!

Steve made up for his drop, but he needs to stop having to make up for them.

I wish he hadn't had that drop when he had a bunch of grass in front of him... Man that was tough but he still played well in the 2nd half.

This has been brought up multiple times in multiple thread multiple weeks throughout this season.  This does not deserve its own thread.  Especially after a win.  By one point.  Against San Fran.  On the road.

Decline does not equate to average.

Hard to acknowledge this for my favorite Panther of all-time, but he is not very good anymore. I don't ever remember him having this many drops in a three-season span as he has had just this season so far. Very disappointing.

he had an off night.......I am sure there has been a night where your girl didnt get hers........assuming you have one. off nights happen....89 always catches in traffic. so do me a favor and understand the bottom line

Reactionary thread. I don't think that drops are something that get worse with age. It doesn't make any sense for there to be a correlation between Steve dropping the ball and him being older. What is the rationale there? I think he's just had some moments when he wasn't in the game mentally and we're looking at a lot of coincidence in terms of him dropping catchable passes. I think he's putting too much pressure on himself to produce like he did when he was 25. He's evolving, not becoming useless. He's still far and away our best bet.

If you want to see a very, very average NFL wide receiver then look no further than a guy like Domenik Hixon. That's average. Smith is still damn good. He'd be a starter on most any team in the league.
