Kurb

Do you remember the girlfriend that said "Do you think I am pretty?"...

Its easy to say the media doesn't matter, but they really do.

Positive national attention = more panthers fans.

more panthers fans = more ticket sales, higher paying sponsors, and merchandise sales.

All that = Ownership being more willing to invest into something heavily because of a positive ROI.

National exposure including more primetime games. I'm sick of seeing the same crappy teams every single Sunday and Monday night.

They are, but only because they are more experienced where it counts. In the long run we can be much prettier....

I bet you are a lady slayer.

Kurb's girlfriend:  Do you think I am pretty?

Kurb:  No.  But you have potential

Good analogy, Kurb.

So the media doesn't bow down and kiss our collective a$$ on a regular basis... So they have doubts...So they esteem others higher than us...

Big fat hairy deal

Win a Super Bowl and you'll get plenty of positive attention.

Become a perennial contender and you'll rightly be regarded as such.

Till then, we still haven't proven anything other than that we can win games in the regular season.  Heck, the Lions can do that.

You want respect?  Earn it.

I'm not a Panthers fan because of media coverage. Coverage will create more fans and money for the team so it's a good thing, but I just don't give a fug. Popular (NFC East, Steelers, ect) and winning teams (Denver, San Francisco, Seattle, ect) get coverage. Look how little the Chiefs are covered and they are still undefeated. Look at the early 2000's, the NFC West didn't get much coverage. If you want the media to talk about your team constantly, cheer for a popular team or a team that consistently wins. Yes our team is winning, but there are a lot of teams that are sitting 6-3. Beating the 49ers at home has garnered more coverage, and bating New England will get more. To prove this more, Falcon coverage has waned as their record gets worse. if they have several years like this one, they will get little attention. Media coverage is all about getting people to look. A playoff run will earn us more,. but I don't care. I am a Panther fan and I don't need the media to cover this team for me to care about them.

I really, really, really hope that when your wife asks if she looks pretty you have a better answer than this.
