Stewart, meanwhile, will make $5.5 million to play for Carolina or cost a staggering $18 million on their cap if they were to get rid of him.

Barnwell..

deangelo is gone IMO. we'll keep stew around, barner will get an increased role, and tolbert will haul the rock. we're better when he's in the backfield anyway

It's accelerated signing bonus. But it may be worth a roster spot for a RB that plays more than 3 games a year

So... does anyone else see Tolbert (Agent) asking for more money, he's by far the most effective back, and also extremely underpaid in comparison to our other two.

If the Panthers RBs of 2014 are Stewart and Barner, god help them.   Stewart is declining and Barner is 'wishing and hoping'.

Tolbert can't carry by himself.

As for Stewart, 5 million buys a lot of exercise bike riding.

Gettleman has seen enough I'm sure to know he needs to do something and he will do something....even if it s 3rd/4th rd draft choices for RB or signing a Veteran.

Tolbert is signed here through 2015.

I'm referring to a holdout.  Just a thought.

why? cutting stew would destroy our cap and we're doing fine without his production anyway... worst case he doesn't play and we're fine, best case he plays and we're even better. deangelo peaked a long time ago and iirc we can cut him with no cap hit next offseason and free up a roster spot.

I´d like to see a few games with Barner now. Since our backs are not that much involved I would be fine with Barner/Tolbert and a healthy Stew next year. No need for 4 RBs + Cam on the roster IMO.
