They were DESPERATE...

I understand the "us against the word" mindset, but to be fair, there were a lot of people picking the Panthers in this game and we were the favorite in the betting line too.

Right... But of course... This is done every week and is a norm??? I must have missed the memo.

I'm going to walk away and tell you that you are correct with a polite grin in the spirit of the Holidays.

The Saints let go of some of the desperation late in the game. They got comfortable near the end. That's why they failed to end it by throwing for a first down.

During that last drive, just about everyone in the room was like "Don't let Cam throw it anymore", after the Ginn completion. I was like "fug that, we need to throw throw throw, and go for the win." Never did I imagine that it would be Hixon that comes up with the TD in the end.

That was sweet victory.

I do believe we covered the spread, just!

Merry Christmas! I did see your point though with the scouting. It was valid.

We saw a very scared and desperate football team come into our house at BOA. First, they tried an offside kick to try and steal a possession. This really angered me at first because of the Bush League nature and timing that it was used. After the fact and reflecting back now, I realize that Payton was a terrified little BLEEP.

Ummmm... using an onside kick in that situation at that time of the game has nothing to do with fear.

It has to do with scouting the other team, watching film, and noticing tendencies.  Teams do onside kicks like that when they notice the other team's kick return team turning their backs on the kick (to run back and set up the return).

They noticed that.

They used that against us.

I hate those fuggers with the burning heat of 1000 suns, but that wan't a "cheap" play.  That was a GREAT play caused by good team preparation.

The bad thing for them was that even though they prepared well and used that play against us, we still kicked dat cajun ass.

The great thing (in HINDSIGHT, of course) about them using that against us is that WE STILL WON THE DAMN GAME.

So now that they pointed out that tendency for us in their loss, we can now eliminate that tendency from our special teams.

Yeah the Saints were desperate, as in 'having an urgent need' to win the game. So were we, and their desperation almost worked better than ours did.

They did the onsides kick in the Super Bowl and it worked then. Payton has always been full of trickery. Both D's came to play. Both offenses were terrible because of that. They had one good drive. We had two. That was the difference, simply stated.

I hated the onside kick. Yes it worked for them, and had we gotten it, we would have had great field position... My point was that it showed that they feared us and were desperate.

That's a big change from years past... We just witnessed the changing of the Guard in the NFC South.

The onside kick was perfect execution by their ST.This was a big game for both teams...pull out all stops.
