A WHOLE PIE!

Not sure if this has ever been pointed out, but Falcons fans love noting that since 2008, every team that dealt the Falcons their final loss of the season went on to appear in the Superbowl.  3 out of 5 went on to win the Superbowl.

2008: Arizona Cardinals - Wildcard Round

2009: New Orleans Saints - Week 14

2010: Green Bay Packers - Divisional Round

2011: New York Giants - Wildcard Round

2012: San Francisco 49ers - NFC Championship game

2013: Carolina Panthers - Week 17

DOES THIS MEAN THE PANTHERS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL????  If the trend holds true...yes it does!

A statistical anomaly does not a trend make.

That being said, the presence of such an anomaly is intriguing - not only that it exists in the first place, but that it was even discovered.

Maybe the next time the Falcons are going to the playoffs they need to intentionally tank their Week 17 game so that they intentionally beat themselves.

That is a crazy [albeit useless] stat.  Credit the Falcons for being the NFL's doormat.

I'm only a stat guy if the numbers lean in my favor, so this stat is legit.

Not a stats guy at all. In the words of some professor, "if you torture data enough, it will confess"

Three statisticians are out hunting. Bird flies up out of the bush, and the first statistician aims and fires. Unfortunately for them, he missed, the bullet going about a foot below the bird. The second one fires, but the bullet goes about a foot above the bird.

The third statistician puts down his gun and says, "All right! We got him!..."

A statistical anomaly does not a trend make.

It does too.  95% of all statistics are worthless.
