Dobby's the easiest to trade of the three right now.  If he's hell bent on testing the FA market then why not get something for him now?

Cause we're close to the playoffs and Ward sucks d***

I know trading Doby isn't what most fans would want, but Ward's contract makes him unmovable. Peters and Doby have been on the trading block all season long, with Doby being on fire. His value is the highest.

It doesn't matter if his value is the highest because it's clear that he is the best goaltender on the roster.

JR said he has built this team to be a consistent playoff team not a team with a top 10 pick every year.

Ward's contract also does not make him unmovable, it just makes him more difficult to move.

Khudobin might be the future starting goaltender of the Canes and people want to trade him!?!?

Idiotic.

Didn't say I wanted him traded, just why he's going to be the one that's traded. The team still has Ward listed as the #1 and Doby has been on the trade block all season long.

Either way it goes, Peters or Doby will be traded not Ward. Ward when he comes back will most likely be the starter or at the very least split time with the one that isn't traded.

As to why Ward isn't going to be traded and why his contract does indeed make him unmovable.

Ward is in the top 4 among NHL goalies in yearly salary. The only goalies that make more then him are Rinne, Quick, and Luongo. On top of that, he's under contract till 2016.

Not saying I wouldn't like Ward to be traded, but he's not going anywhere. On top of that the team isn't going to have the money to resign Doby if he does indeed want to hit the FA market. So best to get what you can now then to loose him for nothing in FA.

Personally... not saying this is the best option, because it's probably not.

I would see what the market is for Ward and take the best offer. It probably won't be much, like I previously mentioned Ward for Gagner... but I don't see Ward ever being a decent goaltender again.

JR also has to think about the fanbase before he makes idiotic decisions

I can almost guarantee if Dobby is traded and we stick with Ward as the starter, he will lose a really big chunk of the fanbase

Trade Cam for a ham sandwich. We win that trade.

Not really much of an option at this point, if they trade Ward they don't have a goaltender for next season under contract. The team unless they move Ward won't have the money to resign Doby. So most likely you're looking at Ward and Peters/FA next season because of the cap situation with the team.

21 million to spend and 14 players to sign to fill out the roster next season. Down to 4 defensemen, 1 goalie and 8 forwards under contract next season. So unless they can find somewhere to move Ruutu or Ward, they don't have a lot of wiggle room to spend good money on Goalie past Ward next off season.

Doby is already all but gone based on the way he's played.

Doby looked really good tonight vs Flordia. Neither goal was directly on him, the first was the Defense for failing to clear. The second he had no chance on, too much traffic in front of him.
