Jase

my daycare is now on a 2 hour delay because of the cold.

Things are getting a little ridiculous.  I mean, I can sort of see CMS on a delay to keep the kiddies from waiting for the bus in frostbite conditions.  What is daycare's excuse?

as one who lives in a winter wonderland...I can't help but laugh at the reactions of places when they get a little taste of it.

You guys deal with these temps all the time... everyone down here freaks the hell out.

It's supposed to be 18 here tonight Hawk... that's balmy for you, no?

it's been crazy here this winter.  Saturday morning it was -37C at my house...tomorrow it will be +6!  We have snow past my balls...gonch on....so that's pretty fricken high.

No way I could live there.  I would die.

I don't even play golf if it's below like 50.

The high here tomorrow is 14. Schools will run per usual.

I have no idea why schools and all are delayed for tomorrow morning... it's not going to be wet/snow/ice as far as I know.  It's rained some this morning, but that will be off the roads by this evening I would think... this is dry air moving in.

I mean it's going to be cold, but nothing like what the midwest is seeing where it's WAY below zero... not dangerous iow.

there's benefits and negatives obviously...we certainly get all 4 seasons around here.

we don't get the extremes in the summer...it might get to 90 once in a while...but zero humidity.  we don't need to worry about catastrophic weather too often...some isolated flooding maybe, but no hurricanes and poo that kill people!

Meh, hurricanes aren't so bad... they just clear out the leaves and such...

Speaking of cold weather - My GF has a couple of outside dogs and she is worrying about them being out  the next couple of nights with the weather being in the low teens. The plan now is to put one in the garage and one in the house (they don't get along) but but one is about 6 or 7 yrs and the other is around 3 or 4 yrs and have spent there whole lives outside. They have a doghouse, large fenced in areas and are in good health but she doesn't want them to freeze to death.

Im all for keeping the dogs in the next couple of nights but I am not sure how well this idea will work. Having an outside, overactive dog in a house with white carpet just screams disaster. I've Googled it and apparently the cold weather affects them just like it does us but wanted other peoples take on it.
