Health care costs rose by only 1.3% a year from 2010 to 2013, a new report from the White House Council on Economic Advisers shows. That's the lowest increase in a three-year period on record. White House officials cite the 2010 Affordable Care Act as a main factor in lowering costs.

to be fair this could have been caused by conservatives refusing to go to the doctor in case they were being turned into socialists but either way sounds like a win

This one is easy. People can't afford to go to the doctors. I remember when I was a little kid and I broke my nose playing baseball. My mom gave me some Tylenol, and told me to take a nap on the couch. I'm guessing this is happening all over the country.

The idea that health care expenditures have dropped somewhat since young people can be kept on their family insurance plans longer, causing less non insured expenditures, and preexisting conditions don't make it impossible to get insurance anymore (with the same results) pales in comparison to the logic that people stopped seeing doctors suddenly.

i think what a lot of people fail to realize about the aca is that it is unlikely to lower the cost of healthcare.  it was designed to lower the rate of increase... which it appears to be doing

i find it almost depressingly funny some here have latched onto this as why costs have gone down.

and mav does make a good point.

this is one of those segments of data that its all in how you splice it and spin it and produce it.

the same people i have no doubt if this were the Reps it would be slashed and the main headline to be torn down from every liberal rag/blog and whatever.

yes. its the aca. wow. just wow.

"Wow. Just wow."

"Lol people will believe anything."

"Some of you would drink rat poison if the government told you."

But no, no real point will be made.

Do nothing and less than half of all Americans would have been able to afford healthcare insurance by the end of the decade.

The ACA is a bastardized program passed by a political party vested in keeping millions of disenfranchised people in this country from being denied basic health care.

The other party has repeatedly demonstrated they don't give a damn about anyone incapable of paying for private health insurance and would rather those people die and reduce the surplus population.

Hopefully one day, the majority of Americans wake up and realize they can pay less money and get better healthcare outcomes by simply adopting the system successfully used by the rest of the civilized world.

Sadly, until that day, the ACA is as good as it gets in the USA when it comes to healthcare.
