Check your stats.....not talking about attempts but actual conversions.

Cam doesn't throw the ball far bc of our team philosophy. Chunk plays go against what our team wants to do. They want long slow drives. Eat up clock as limit opportunities for both teams.

So it goes back to....how good is your team on a per drive basis. Carolina doesn't give teams chances to figure it all out all day. You don't get all the trial by error against Carolina. What you do better work.

Actually I believe I did include just conversions.  But either way its the attempts that would count for more really because thats what you actually do, its just a percent of them get converted.

And fair enough. But a lot of run oriented teams take occasional shots downfield because secondaries tend to creep up.  Smith would be perfect for that.  And they do it just not much and its probably his 11% completion on it.   FWIW eating up clock, running, all stuff in 49ers philisophy too, butl still know downhill passing is a part of it.

"Kaep" is not the best player on his offense. He may not even be the second or third best player.

He's not needed that way. The 49ers and Harbaugh, just don't want him to mess it up. End of story.

The Panthers can't win if Newton doesn't make plays (regardless of his stats). He carries a much heavier burden.

His receivers, running game, and O-Line are just not that reliable.

And in his first two years [Newton's], neither was his defense or coaching, in addition to those other areas mentioned.

Yeah, maybe , but i will say this for what its worth, on his worst 4 games this year in qb rating, they lost.  really they win and lose with him, whether or not he's the best player on the offense. Theyve won and lost with all their other skill offensive players being out at one point or another as well. But never when Kap doesnt show up.   He's more than a game manager man.  He makes mistakes but thats because he  is a game breaker, he goes for the big play a lot, probably more than he should sometimes, but it gets it a lot too. So thats why he has the green light, and hey its working. 12-4 in the nfc west.

You say cam has a heavier burden but in my opinion its the same.  If kap isnt making plays they dont win.  If cam isnt making plays panthers dont win.  Its like that in SF too.  They just dont have any other playmakers to compare to what SF has apart from him.
