Anyone else think there's anything to the fact that Harrelson's character's last name is 'Hart' which is another word for 'deer' and that the victims all have antlers placed on their heads?

Now it's beginning to come together.... but I still can't figure out what's next. Obviously there's some kind of ultimate confrontation between Harrelson and McConaughey, otherwise they wouldn't be giving statements years later. Not sure what's up there.

shows like this have ruined network television for me with the most unimaginative, obvious story lines.  this show kicks so much ass.

And I usually can't stomach too many cop shows since it's such an over-saturated market.

Last episode was very good. Show is going to be a can't miss from now on. Daddario has an amazing rack on her. Hard to think its the same girl from the 3D Texas Chainsaw movie.

I watched episodes two and three, have the series recording on my DVR now...  for some reason, I haven't been able to record the first episode.  I guess they haven't showed it again.

Anyway, this is what I think I know so far...

The falling out between Cohle and Hart  is due to either Hart suspecting Cohle slept with his wife, or because Cohle DID sleep with his wife.

I'm starting to wonder if Cohle isn't responsible in some way for the killings.  He seems too obsessed with it and he's really morbid.

Hart is no longer married.

There is an interesting narcissistic dynamic to Hart.  He cheats on his wife, but no one else can have her - a typical male behavior, BUT he also doesn't want his mistress to get hers, and then he feels like he needs to rescue women in distress from living in a life of promiscuity.

At times, I wondered if Cohle may have actually been gay as he repeatedly rejected women's advances, but as he mentioned in the questioning, he was almost married again after his first wife...  So, I think it is more of him being morbidly obsessed with the case and it consumes him above all else.  But, there is definitely something to it...  And his repeititive, compulsive behaviors are of note as well, i.e. making the men out of the beer can lids.

Religion and/or faith is a big theme throughout, OBVIOUSLY, I know...  BUT, what is even more intriguing is Cohle's relationship with it.  I think something big is going to come of this theme as well.  Why?  Cohle spends a great deal of time expounding on the weak mindedness of religious types, BUT he states the reason he decided to go back into the force was because of the scripture he kept reading as he was in the psych ward.  Also, when he is in his home and Hart's wife calls, you can see a cross sitting on his wall behind him.  So, is he anti-religion or does he just not believe in a higher power at all?  I think it's the former, but I think with as much as religion has played a part in the series so far, it's going to play a big part in the payoff...

All of that being said, I'm actually kind of pissed that I got into the show.  I hate having to wait a week at a time to find out what's going to happen next.  AND my wife is not feeling the show so far, saying that it's "too slow."  So, how do they end episode two?  With a man wearing a fuging gas mask and holding a machete, and then previewing the next episode as though it is nothing but ACTION.  I told her, "looks like it's going to pick up next week," lol.
