Who was the 28th overall pick for the last few years?

Not really.

Lets just look at a random pick in the top 10: "no.7".

2013: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
2012: Mark Barron, S, Alabama
2011: Aldon Smith, OLB, Mizzou
2010: Joe Haden, CB, Florida
2009: Darius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland
2008: Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
2007: Adrian Peterson, RB, Oklahoma
2006: Michael Huff, S, Texas
2005: Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina
2004: Roy Williams, WR, Texas
2003: Byron Leftwich, QB, Marshall

I'm not sure you proved your point. AP, Haden, and Aldon Smith are all world, but Williamson, Harvey and Hayward bey are busts, leftwich and Roy were overall disappointments, huff wasn't notable. Too soon to tell for the last 2.

That number 7 analysis had way better luck in the pros. Even the guys who weren't stand outs were something for a bit. Smith, Haden, Barron, Peterson are good. That is way better than 2/10 for the 28th pick. Roy William was very productive for a few years. Huff was productive as well for an extended period of time. Byron couldn't stay healthy long enough to do anything.

I either want Kelvin Benjamin or a younger Joe Staley.

Gettlemen will get us someone good.  Don't you worry.

I know it's a pipe dream but I flip out if we could sign and trade Hardy for a draft pick and then work some magic to somehow wind up with Sammy Watkins.  I'm a big tiger fan and I've watched almost every game he's played in.  That boy is a stud.

Interesting footnote to this, we traded up from the 31st pick to select Gamble 28th.

Our trade partner was SF and they used the pick to select a guy named Rashaun Woods, who was a total bust. His rookie season he had 7 catches for 160 yards and a TD, then he tore some ligaments and spent 2005 on IR before being traded to SD where he was almost immediately cut. He spent a little time in NFL Europa and the CFL before his playing career ended and now he's  a H.S. football coach.

The 49ers got our 4th round pick as additional compensation and used it to select another bust named Richard Seigler, who in 2007 was under investigation for his alleged involvement in a Las Vegas prostitution ring after he had been traded to the Steelers.

So the moral of this story? Let's hope we can find a way to fleece SF again while selecting a quality player like Gamble.

It would be nice if someone not lazier than me would post pics 29-32 as well.

You know the "asshat", as referenced in the other thread, was picked 29th last year (via a trade-up).

If Carolina doesnt trade down, which I think they should. I think they should take Austin Seferian-Jenkins with #28. Olsen isnt getting an older. They havnt really found his replacemnt and good free agent TE's are hard to come by.

Olsen discovered the fountain of youth?
