I've been a big fan of the drive by truckers for some years now. Some of you may recognize a song from them on a Chevy truck commercial. (I think it's where the devil don't stay, but these guys, have been around writing together since the 80s and have put out around 14 studio albums.

I remember reading a thread about how country/southern rock is dead. These guys have been proving otherwise for quite some time.

Patterson Hood reminded me of Springsteen before I read this article. His lyrics are quirky, funny, nostalgic socially conscious without being preachy, and he has a awesome ability to bringing the listener into a different place and time.

There really is no other motive for this thread other than to bring attention to this kickass band from Athens, Georgia. This was a great read for any DBT fan. And check out "southern rock opera" or "decoration day" for any new listener.
