He's not worth any contract of value.

Last time we were one playmaker away, we signed Keyshawn. Everyone was excited, myself included, but that shit didn't go well. Doesn't mean we should pass on Nicks necessarily, just a reminder that sometimes ther is a such thing as subtraction by addition.

Comparing Nicks to an "old" Keyshawn is not exactly on point.

_____

I just don't understand how people can say that he doesn't (or didn't) want to be in NY when he has said that he would actually prefer to stay.  Yes, he may have become disillusioned during the season, but he still should have been professional about the situation. That is a red flag, regardless if you are pro or anti Nicks. At the right price, you may take a chance on a guy with red flags, but you're not gonna roll out the red carpet for him. Exactly the opposite, actually. Nicks still has to prove himself worthy to be treated like a top WR in the game, and, as for me, it's gonna take more than one season in a new venue to prove it.

Nobody is saying Nicks isn't talented, you guys don't have to drag the rest of his team through the mud to make him look better.

Come on, now, Red. Be honest. You said exactly that. Do you really think everyone has forgotten your post that claimed, "Pros: He played at UNC, Cons: He can't play football"?

I do like the all new, improved, non-hyperbolic "Red." I agree that we shouldn't break the bank for him, but I do think he can help dramatically improve our offense. That's not to say he will. But he can.

Jon Wagner, Yahoo contributor and the beat writer for New York Sports Day has some pointed things to report about Nicks, and he does mention the Carolina Panthers as a landing spot:

I can take Nicks or leave him. I followed him fairly closely this past season due to him being on my fantasy team, honestly (before I dropped him).  Yes, Eli had an awful year---that's not to be denied---but Nicks hasn't been a WR1-like for several years now. And the more I hear, the more skeptical (or at least confused) that I become, especially when you factor in his injury history and whether or not that has damaged Nicks irrevocably. But...the thing is a lot of this article points to Nicks' attitude, and that can certainly change. If he would sign a one to three year contract that is commensurate with his production over the years---one that reflects his less than committed attitude and drop-off in production---as a test run that gives us a good sampling of why he is still one of the NFL's best, then I am all for it. When I look at his career in its totality, at this point I don't see WR1 numbers, but WR2 numbers---and effort, so to me that's where the both G-man, Nicks and his agent should be shooting for as it pertains to a contract. If he doesn't want to be fair, then let someone else take the risk. I have trust that G-man will get us right, with or without Nicks.

Say what you want but I'd love to have Nicks.  Maybe he had a rough year.  You don't make it though, into the NFL and have success if have a poor work ethic.   His past despite last year being an anomaly, would point towards a great work ethic.

Nobody knows what happened behind closed doors in NY, so I don't think any of us are qualified to judge Nicks' work ethic and commitment.  Lucky for us we have Gettleman, and if anyone knows Nicks work ethic it would be him.   So if we sign him, that should give us more insight into the true nature of his work ethic in itself.

I don't recall ever saying anything of the sort. Funny how you can't pull up an actual quote of me saying that.

So what was your previous account? Since we obviously know you've been banned before, you clearly aren't new.
