They're coming off a 22-6 loss to the Cardinals after putting on a limpdick performance following the bye week. This was supposed to be one of the easiest games on the schedule, with many tough games yet to come.

Someone tells you Ron Rivera wins coach of the year.

What's your reaction?

I'd probably say "hmm I guess they went 11-1 from there on out."

But really I'd probably think they were joking

One thing we did learn is that Arizona actually wasn't a joke team, they were hot on the Niners butts at the end of the year.

Yea, one of the few seasons where an actual argument could be made that a 7th team deserved to be in the playoffs.

Rivera was never in danger of being fired during the season.

Well I'd never believe them because it's not possible to travel through time.

And if it is, then the future must be either amazing or deadly, because nobody has ever returned from it.

We had fire Ron threads after the Week 2 loss.  He deserved it. But fate gave him a final chance to change and he took it.

Don't kid yourself. If he kept losing, we would have a new head coach next season.

Tell anyone on September 10th 2001 that anything like New York becoming a war zone could happen in America

Exactly...That was some crappy rumor that NFL Network started. Gettleman was really angry about it and even went public to deny the false rumor.

Yes, but he would've been fired after the season. He wasn't getting fired mid season. When that bogus rumor started Dave was pissed and emphatically denied it. If it was true he would just said no comment or some other PR statement.

That Bills loss just killed me. After that I thought "jeez Rivera I've supported you since you've been here but it may be time." Glad he changed though because he is a genius defensive mind.
