. but this notion that dual threats cannot win a SB when McNair and McNabb and Kaepernick came within inches is downright hilarious.

Are you forgetting Steve Young?

I'm not sure if this game to bestow the benefits of the Mobile QB winning a Superbowl?

See Linville George's manifesto on the subject. Lol

How about 4/6 teams in the NFC bracket having a mobile QB? Does that bestow a benefit?

Only in the past few years have we really seen the emergence of the mobile QB. Before Cam there were guys like Vick, Mcnair, Young, Culpepper, and Mcnabb.

Now we have Cam, Cap, Wilson, RG3, etc. The quality and number of mobile QBs have gone up.

It is just a huge misunderstanding/misused phrase that mobile QBs cant win. They havent won because there were so few of them and the quality of their play wasnt quite up to par.

Now theres a good group out there so expect things to change. It is the new NFL.

No I haven't. I wanted to use QBs that everyone universally think of as mobile and considered failures.

And of the crop, those guys were FAIRLY successful. So even the "failures" were still on par, better than the average NFL QB as far as getting a team to the post-season and generally winning.

Throw in Tebow and Vince Young too. Both have gotten to the post season in limited action and both have winning records.

I guess, maybe? However, I really didn't think about it.

Who was the 4th again?

Still doesn't change how in this game Wilson did virtually nothing when the outcome was in doubt, then changed.

Teams that run read option and have mobile QBs:

Seahawks

49ers

Eagles

Panthers

Russell isn't the first "dual threat" QB too win a SB.

Russell isn't the first black QB to win the SB.

Nothing will change on the perception of QBs.

Who cares about perception. It's a copycat league and the OL can only do so much with the speed of those defenses. I'm thinking on the line of a complete overhaul. As I'm typing this they're talking about this just now on NFLN. Maybe a completely new standard.

It doesn't matter. The argument has ALWAYS been that mobile QBs will NEVER win a SB. Wilson took practically every snap for the Seahawks this season and WON the SB as a mobile QB.

The argument against Cam is that he cannot win a SB because he is mobile, which if you look back at the history of mobile QBs in the NFL, they have been fairly successful given how few there are.

You do realize Wilson isn't the first mobile QB to win a Superbowl right?

redskins and maybe the colts.

If we are talking about the entire league and not just playoff NFC teams then Buff, I think the Jets with Geno did some, and the Raiders with Pryor

So league wide:

Buff

Car

Philly

NYJ

Oak

Wash

49ers

Sea

Colts

9 teams...5 playoff births...1 SB...

However, the Redskins and Raiders were generally awful on offense...especially the Raiders under Pryor.

Jets were okay for what personnel they had on offense (and Geno is really not an option QB to begin with)

Buff was okay on offense.

I do. Do you realize that as of 3 hours ago people were still saying that mobile QBs don't win SBs?
