Talking about rooting out talent. Things we should think about.

The Seahawks have been putting this team together for years. I mean, piecing it together since the day Carroll was hired.

It takes really good coaching which the Seahawks have, really good scouting, and patience by the front office.

Helps to have a little bit of luck as well.  Drafting is a crapshoot especiall in the late rounds.  Sometimes it works (as it did with us for Greg Hardy) and many times it doesn't.

Within the next three years, the Seahawks are going to have to resign Sherman, Thomas, Wilson, Lynch, Baldwin, Tate, Bennett and several others.  They are going to have some serious cap issues before much longer.  They will definitely be the team to beat next year though.

Carroll is a great talent evaluator as well, along with identifying guys who fit their system, especially on the defensive side. Having ties in the college ranks sure helped him too as he was able to bring in Pac-12 guys like Baldwin and Kearse who weren't even drafted.

I've changed my mind about the direction we go in the draft this year.  I say we go with Best Player Available with every pick. The thing about Seattle is that they have physically freakish athletes who are fast at every position.  Free agency is where we need to go for our "needs" but when it comes to the draft I say pick crazy fast athletic big football players regardless of position.

That's wonderful for them, but not every team lucks out like that on late rounders, and UDFA's.

They are using the moneyball approach which is good early but like we all know. Contracts are gonna be a bear.

BPA is for the 80's. Its random and unwise.

They knew the type of guy they wanted and never reached for a player.

Steelers, Eagles, Pats and Ravens have done this for years.

You just replace the guy you are letting go with a younger and cheaper version of himself. Smart.

BPA not so much.

    • I was watching the Daily Show from last night for a few minutes, and they played the part where the lady in the red dress was asking Paul Ryan to step down.  What got me was how she was excusing Trump for not knowing how to be a politician, and how Ryan and other congressional republicans had led him astray.   They made the point that it sounded a lot like a mom who was making excuses why her son was failing school...   All I got to say is a big old WTF is going on?  You run for President, you have to be prepared to actually BE president, which Trump was not.  The poo show we're seeing is simply a result of people being angry and voting emotionally (during the primaries) for the "other guy" because they thought it couldn't get much worse (due to the Fox News/Obama = the End of the World nonsense).  Welp...
    • Yeah if Hillary got elected and took credit, not a single left wing kook on this site would start a thread calling her out on it.  Yet more proof you are a bunch of morons.
