He's an option but I'd rather we snag a more proven guy, I would like Robert Meacham

Meachem was terrible outside of NO with Brees throwing him the ball.....like all of the NO WR's.

Just like in New England, the QB is making the WR's look way better than they really are.

Has only had one good year and that is with one of the best QBs of all time throwing him the ball. He is constantly injured... I really don't see why you people want him...

Because at minimum he'd be a big target for Cam and fit in quite well production-wise with the "minimalistic" (yeah I made up the word) way that Shula uses his receivers in our offense, and at best he'd stay healthy and flirt with the production that he had that "one good year".  If he comes cheap, it would seem like you'd have to question whether or not he'd be an upgrade over LaFell and Hixon. You can't really compare him to Smitty and Ginn because one is basically a legend, and the other is a kick returner who serves a different need in the offense than Rice would provide.

As for Favre throwing him the ball, I am un-phased.  Superman lives here.

Think him and cam would be a good fit! Plus we get good knowlege on the aints. Cheap option not the worst idea in the world.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks are "likely" to release Sidney Rice.

"Rapsheet is just stating the obvious, as cutting Rice — who's recovering from a torn ACL — will be a no-brainer move for a team that needs to lock up Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas between now and next offseason. Releasing Rice would clear over $7 million in cap space. Grossly overpaid since the day he signed his five-year, $41 million contract in July 2011, Rice is due an untenable $8.5 million. One of the league's least durable players, Rice has just 114 total catches since notching 83 in 2009."

What is it with you guys who keep adding names to the list of players who can't play a 16-game season due to injury. First Hixon, now Rice?

If he comes cheap.

I was disappointed G-man kept Dixon over Gettis.

How so? Would he rehab harder? The guy is good for IR, that's about it.

Based on how his past production and talent/ability.

Yes he's coming off a major injury but if he gets healthy, he'd be > LaFell.

Look, I am not saying throw out the guy the red carpet---if court him at all in any shape, fashion or form. I'm just throwing out his name out for discussion. Rice is as good as gone from Seattle, and everyone knows it. That being said, G-man did sign Hixon last season, and as far as I'm concerned Rice is greater than Hixon.  Sign him to a 1-1.5 million dollar deal with some explicit goals and incentives, and maybe we get an upgrade.  It may not be the best of ideas, but I wouldn't say that it would hurt the team if he comes cheaply because the way Cam throws the ball we can always hope for this:

No, no, no, no. Where is that Michael Scott gif at?

The last thing we need is a flash-in-the-pan, ultra injury-prone WR.

Draft has plenty of talent at WR. Not a slim pool this year.

Not even for a hometown discount.

Cam needs a consistent WR to build with.

Could someone explain how is Sidney Rice like Dominik Hixon?

What happened here? Is this a Gaffney hate thread now? Anyone who has traveled 85 South is familiar with the peach. My wife's late grandparents lived in Gaffney for years. Her granddad was a preacher down there. I would imagine that Rice has humble roots coming from there.

I'm used to the teasing, I get it all of the time.
