The Legend of Duke's Kyrie Irving

Kyrie has an amazing offense. I think everyone agrees on that.

And duke fans, please stop whining. This debate has nothing to do with college basketball at all. This is about who is a better NBA player and who is/isn't a superstar. When/if either of these players win a ring, they'll be labelled by the name and logo of their NBA teams, not their college's.

Now for my view:

I don't think either is a superstar.
Both very good players.
Both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Both have similar situation with the talent they've played with since joining the league.

A superstar is a player who has the ability to single- handedly win the game for his team. A player who can dominate in every second of the game on offense AND defense.

Can both Kemba and Kyrie go off and score a lot and put up great stats and look good on tv? Hell yes they can. But neither has showed that domination that guys like lebron, Kobe, Carmelo, kd, wade (a few years ago), young mcgrady and roy, most recently have shown. These guys always kept their teams in the game. If they were on the court, the game could be won. When I watch the cavs or bcats, I don't see that. There are games that I would strike up an L on both schedules. It just seems like the bloated stats of both players some nights is the result of underperforming teammates. It's about overall talent and consistency. Both have talent but neither can dominate night in and night out.

I think this generation uses the term "superstar" waaaaaaay to much. For these 2, talented would be a better label IMO.

Only Superstars are LeBron and Durant. Kobe used to be but not any more.

Point is, the guys I noted are or have been and neither Kyrie or Kemba is or has been.

Kemba is a very good player, but Kyrie is just better. Bashing on Kyrie with his skillset is beyond laughable. Nobody, and I mean nobody in the league can guard him one on one. Some of you are actually comparing the fact that Kemba will probably help lead his team to the playoffs while Kyrie probably will not? Really? Well I ask you this then, when Kemba was the same age as Kyrie is now, and this hurts to remember back, but what was Kemba's teams record at that age? Oh yeah, the worst in NBA history. Ouch, that hurt to think about, but it is true. Do not talk about team accomplishments when discussing the talent level of individual players at such young ages. I seem to remember those selfish comments reguarding one Michael Jordan in the early stages of his career, and how did that work out? And do not put words in my mouth, am not calling Kyrie the next Jordan because he is not, but he is very young still. And all this dumb talk about him not being a team player is crazy too. The guy gets 22 a night, but could go for 30 a night if he decided to.

My Duke hatred stops when they go pro, if you're a good player and contribute to the cause then you're welcome on my team.
