No one knows if Bell can play LT.

Breno Giacomini sounds exactly like a G-man move.  Best talent for the money we'd spend.  We're not paying (and don't have) elite money.  So, we're not going after elite players but I love the idea of finding very good players and wrapping them up for 4 years or so.  I say if we can get him a deal paying between 3-4 million a year we'd be aces.

Hurney snuck in and gave Bell a 5 yr contract worth around $11M a year.

There's nothing to indicate Giacomini is good, let alone very good.

He's a lot better then Bell, who is garbage. (he's improved from hot garbage though)  Plus Giacomini is nasty and has a mean streak a mile long.

Sadly Bell is back as he was tendered, for what reason I have no idea. He's not worth $1, much less what ever he got on his tender.

I say he's an Italian version of Bell, but not any better. You have something to suggest otherwise? I'd love to see it.

Bell cant play LT.  Wharton will say on the left side and could possibly fill-in at LT ... but I hope that is not the plan.

How do you know Bell can't play LT?
Amini Silatolu is our LG assuming he's made a full recovery and doesn't have a setback next season.

Joe Person @josephperson

Panthers gave Byron Bell a 2nd-round tender ($2.187M), per source. Panthers would get 2d-rd pick as compensation if Bell signs elsewhere.

Bell is an average right tackle. I don't know why he gets so much hate around here. Could we stand to upgrade? Sure. But we could do a lot worse than Byron Bell.

Third stage. Bargaining.

sometimes the answer is on your roster.

this would not be one of those times.

Bell is the answer to the Left  Tackle question.

If the damn question is, "Who will suck at left tackle?"

Easy ...   go back and watch the Bills game ... or any other game with an above average DE.  He is not agile enough and consistently gets beat by speed rushers.  You don't want him protecting Cam's blind side.

Amini is not a lock, especially with Williams being resigned.  There will be plenty of competition for both guard positions but nobody is a lock on the OL except for Kalil.

2 million for Bell is ridiculously overprized. That's more than what Carolina paid for their 2 starting safeties last year... combined.

They placed the same tender on him Seahawks put on Doug Baldwin who pretty much would be the best receiver here (more yards than Smitty on 36 less targets).

Heck if i'm Bell i wouldn't even listen about long term deals anytime soon. He wouldn't crack a 2M/year long term deal anywhere.

The problem with Bell is that he doesn't seem to be a bit better now than he was as an undrafted rookie free agent.  We all loved him then because he filled in more than adequately considering he was a undrafted rookie free agent.  The problem is that it's now several years later and this guy is still currently penciled in as a starter on our OL.  That sucks.

The problem here is Bell is not a gifted athlete. He can work on his technique all he wants. At the end of the day he is two steps slower than elite pash rushers.
