Again the ACC is dreadful

An 11 seed Tenn is mauling Mercer and UNC goes down in flames and UVA will lose to Memphis.

Now watch Louisville win back to back but fall apart next year.

The curse of John Swofford.

Fourth year in a row no team from the ACC in the Final Four. Not a good trend when you have 25 teams in your conference.

Maybe Virginia has a run like Duke did in 2010. Unlikely though.

Not sure what the problem is. People complain about scheduling but Duke played Florida Gulf Coast last year before their great tournament run. And you don't really know which teams are going to win their tournaments then have huge runs in the tourney.

Tougher interconference play should improve the conference. Hopefully going forward the ACC can get better results.

It's hard to gauge UVA. They looked solid in the ACC champ game, but they were playing duke. They do have upper class men though and play good defense. If they can get solid guard play, they'll be a tough out.

This four year drought (unless uva makes it) is the longest since the 50's.

Pitino and Roy and K Boheim are close to retiring. They better hit home runs for the next generation.

I wonder sometimes if the big programs getting the "one and done" guys is really worth it.

Duke and Carolina ruled the world when guys stayed in school 3-4 years and learned a system.  I think coaches give up on coaching "basketball" and just try to maximize their time with the phenoms.

I guess I am just old school and like seeing guys there for 4 years.

Coaching now has turned into recruiting, period

UNC I don't feel like recruits the one-and-done guys as much. But, by the time players develop into good players, they leave. The system is bad for teams like Kansas, UNC, and Duke; but it has been good for variety, and has made the NCAA tourney a lot more entertaining.

It's match ups and adjustments. UK is a young team and they came to play their best game of the year and beat a great Wich St team.

Duke gets handled by Mercer and Mercer gets destroyed by a middle of the road Ten team.

Could be a matter of ref style in the ACC vs other conferences and how a team adapts. I'm sure UNC and Duke are use to getting their share of calls in the ACC and that goes away in March madness.

I prefer having a smaller more competitive conference like the Big XII where you play everybody twice is better than a large conference with good teams that play each other once and beat up on losers the rest of the time.  They had seven tourney teams and another on the bubble (I think those were the numbers) so that means at least twelve conference games were against a tournament team and two others were against one that nearly made it.  That does more to strengthen a team.  I am not going to bother looking but I am sure that there is a team out there that only road game against the top four ACC teams.  That helps nothing.
