What does the Ramsdell hiring say about Shula's future?

I'm still trying to see all this dynamic offensive talent Shula supposedly wasted. When your playmaker is your QB alone and he's young and still grown conservatism is exactly what the offense needs.

Half of the O-Line a liability, one WR, old & oft injured RBs: not Shulas fault. Shula may not be the greatest OC ever, but we don't even know bc he's been given hardly anything to work with outside of Cam. Calling for him to lose his job is just finding a scapegoat without addressing our real problems.

if i was Shula i would be looking over my shoulder, its going to be hard to have someone more qualified than he is at running the offense the panthers run. if we struggle I can see Shula being phased out or even fired

I can see it now. Ramsdell will be behind Shula in the booth and every time Shula calls a run up the gut, Ramsdell will let out a loud exhale and mumble "that's not what I would do.....".

Gettleman is a scout.   None of the WR's from last year are on the team.  Read between the lines.

hint:  has something to do with overall talent.

I too think shula gets an unfair rip about last year. We lost half our starting line for the year and still got to the playoffs.

I certainly dont like them saying we had hundred yard rushing games either bc those came from newton scrambling.

But I do hope that we draft some capable linemen that can pancake the hell out of someone.

While I disagree with you regarding Shula at this point, damn that's funny. I envisioned it and started to LOL :-)

hate to be that guy.  Yes, the Ravens won the Super Bowl that year.  Jim Caldwell is also awful.  What a terrible analogy.

Caldwell no more deserved that Lions job than you did.  Plus, the idea that the Ravens hired Caldwell as a "Quarterbacks coach", quoting it as if the job itself is somehow a farce or a coverup to overthrow Cameron, seems kinda ignorant.  They filled the position because they had an opening.  They got the best coach that fit their offense.

He was overrated at Wake.  I had a chance to hear him speak once--I could not believe he was a college coach (at the time).  His hiring gives me hope that I too can coach in the NFL just as ZZ Top keeps me believing that I can be a lead singer for a rock band.

This coaching situation is a partnership at this time-it obviously could blow up into a "hostile takeover" but that is true with all assistants to some degree.

Shula has never had much to work with, but he was the OC playoff teams.

Alstott, Dunn--run the ball.  Who were the receivers back in Tampa?  Keyshawn?

Give him some weapons and a guy who has first-hand experience with it and you will see a Shula you did not know existed.

Thats your perspective, but I dont agree with it.  There is no reason for Rivera and g man to rock the boat by bringing in Ramsdell if they were satisfied with Shulas job performance.
