The Canes closed out the season on a two game winning streak as the Hurricanes beat the Flyers 6-5 in the shootout.

The Canes finished 36-35-11 and will picking 6th or 7th in the NHL Draft (depending on the outcome of the Canucks/Flames game) unless they somehow snag the number one pick in the lottery.

It's been an up and down year, but like always it's fun talking hockey with the five or six of you guys that mosey on over to this section of the forum.

Maybe next year... maybe next year.

Having Skinner Lindholm and Khudobin makes the future look extremely bright.

Lindholm definitely starting putting it together after the Olympic break.  Very exciting.

As long as Francis guts the coaching staff and restructures some contracts (I'm looking at you, Jordan Staal and Cam Ward), brings in better coaches and and adds a couple of pieces, we'll be fine.

As far as I know, in the NHL there aren't any contract negotiations.  The Hurricanes would have to buy them out, then sign them to a new contract.

You cant restructure contracts in the NHL.

Honestly though, the younger players looked like they were buying into Muller's system at the end of the season here.

Teams defense is still like Swiss cheese and that's going to keep this forward heavy team out of the playoffs till it's fixed. I just don't see anyway of fixing it with the teams cap situation.

Muller hasn't been told if he's staying or leaving. That usually means the coach is leaving right?

No news is good news, so we're possibly facing another season with Muller.
