They couldve at least worn all black. They had a chance to really stand up for social injustice on a big stage and did nothing.

Lol they are going for a title.  The Clippers arent going to win a title.  We can go ahead and cut that noise now. There are things more important than basketball, and a title.  If you read the transcript of what Sterling said, then you would know that he treats these players like slaves.  "I support them and give them food, and clothes, and cars, and houses.  Who gives it to them? Do I know that I have"

There's no way, as a black man, I would've been able to suit up and play today's game after seeing that.  Kobe Bryant said he couldn't even play for the man. This is bigger than a damn championship title.

So we're going to act like this is suddenly breaking news that Sterling is a racist POS?  Its the same guy who paid $2.75 million to settle a federal housing discrimination lawsuit.

Well for some of us that don't follow the team that closely yes it is news to us.

I"m disappointed to see them "shut up and play".  They could have at the very least made more of a statement than wearing their warmups inside out, that's the point.

They are going for a title. Why would they sit out when they have a shot to go up 3-1

Sent from my SGH-M919 using CarolinaHuddle mobile app

It's a game.  Sometimes you've got to stand up for what you believe in.

"In 1967, three years after winning the heavyweight title, Ali refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, citing his religious beliefs and opposition to American involvement in the Vietnam War. The U.S. government declined to recognize him as a conscientious objector, however, because Ali declared that he would fight in a war if directed to do so by Allah or his messenger (Elijah Muhammad). He was eventually arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges and stripped of his boxing title. He did not fight again for nearly four years—losing a time of peak performance in an athlete's career."

I didn't think a sit out was that probable, but a stronger statement without doubt should have been made.

They probably would've been better off sitting this game out considering the ass beating they're taking right now.

I agree with Aggie, though I'm very white, I hoped they would refuse to take the floor tonight and agree that this goes far beyond winning a basketball game.

the whole transcript and conversation is here.  I follow David West on twitter, and he summed it up perfectly with this: "Sterling basically articulated plantation politics. Make money off the bucks, lay with the women, no association in public...good or bad"

I was just saying this to someone...

Everyone asked why would a racist man own a team in a league that is 80% African-American.

Could it be that this man is trying to compare himself (in a subtle way) as a plantation owner where his goal is to be in control of and make money off of the basketball players (primarily African-American's).

I know it sounds far-fetched, but I think it's plausible.
