Greg Cosell isn't just a guy though.

Cosell prides himself at being a tape guy and breaking down players and admits his mocks and round grades are just speculation.

I agree, but his evaluations are pretty accurate a lot of times. If he thinks Moncrief is a quality player there's probably several teams that do as well. If I had to bet right now Moncrief isn't on the board when we pick at 60.

Just depends on how there boards work. You really cant predict the draft I mean who would have ever thought Star would drop to us but he did. Also no one saw us taking Luke the year before that and we did so really we as fans have no idea how it works. For example I remeber watching this show with a former scout and him telling how AZ idea was to draft someone with STAR impact alone and talent didnt matter that much. I know that's a extreme case but it does happen.

I'm not liking the reports I'm seeing on Moncrief and I was a huge fan before. If he drops a lot of passes we don't want him.

I'm sorry I do not agree with some of those things those guys are saying. Il do a write up tomorrow about some things that are not true.

He does body catch a lot, but so did Cordarrelle Patterson. He does not have the wiggle that CP has, but he is just as explosive and a threat with his Yac ability.

Moncrief is nowhere close to Patterson.

Patterson catches with his hands and bodies the ball at appropriate times.  He does not lack confidence in his hands.  He's also a completely different class of ball-carrier.  CP is one of the best, if not the best, open field runners in the game.

Here's my go-to site on both Cordarrelle Patterson (last year) and Donte Moncrief (this year.)

He had Patterson as his top WR last year and it appears that he has Moncrief as a high-upside 3rd rounder in 2014.

Don't me wrong.  I think Moncrief is a very nice talent, but in this draft class, he is not a first rounder.  Not in my opinion anyway.  We'll see where he goes in a few weeks.

Patterson was just an example of how somebody with speed, size, and production gets drafted before some think. Patterson had the ability to catch his hands, but he would catch with his body a lot as well. Moncrief does body catch a lot, but mostly because of the contact he is anticipating. a lot of his routes where inside breaking routes with bodies around him. Moncrief is a legit 2nd round guy in my eyes and many others. again, even Greg Consell thinks he has potential to be a 1st rounder. cbssports.com has him as a 1st-2nd round guy as well, and so does Nolan Naworki (sp).

here are some picks of him making plays away from his body that the NFL teams love.

I like these WRs from schools where the QB was not elite-- or Robinson at Penn St--so much untapped potential.

Hackenberg has the chance to be elite by the time he leaves. Robinson didn't have a scrub throwing to him

and the idea of this guy not being able to break tackles, or he does not have any YAC ability is just not true. is he elusive as as Lee or Watkins, NO. if he was he would be a sure fire 1st rounder. but he is no slouch either. very decisive runner, will give one to two moves, then get North/South and out run angles. plays to that 4.4 speed a lot.

here vs Arkansas, he makes a CB miss, then gets N/S and outruns the angles of the S who is flowing to the ball

another example vs LSU, he runs a slant on a future 5th round pick for the Seahawks, and gets open. the S comes over and breaks down to make the hit.that S was also drafted in the 1st round by the 49ers. he gives a little move, making the CB fall, and just flat out runs by the S. he goes from slow to top speed and nobody catches him.

I like that website you linked to. Gonna check out the rest of their scouting reports.

I don't think anybody questions his athleticism, but receivers with hands issues are risky.  Too risky for high picks in insanely deep drafts like this one.

It is a big mistake to judge Moncrief by a few great plays, because his highlight reel is outstanding.  His game tape is more revealing however, because it shows the inconsistencies.

Tons of upside, yes, but plenty of risk to go with it if you draft him to be a #1 WR, which is what you suggest.

I'm not killing the guy.  I like his talent, but round one or even two this year is a bit rich for my tastes.
