#3259771 Panthers Mock Draft Rounds 4-5

Posted by ncfan on Today, 12:28 PM

Love Lockett in the 4th!  Kid is a heckuva a prospect in the slot and return man.   I actually like him better than Dorsett.  Have seen many of many times Dorsett drop passes wide open down here in Miami, and he will go Real high because his hyped 4.33 40.

Lockett wil go much lower even though he has Speed (4.40 40)  in fact he is Quicker than Dorsett .  4.07 20 yrd shuttle compared to Dorsett's 4.11 shuttle.

We had 1 or 2 other young guys start to look alright last year.  He's been off the field al Lot the last 2 years.  Between the other young guys starting to look alright and drafting Chickillo to try to groom.  Cutting him to try to open a little cap is a good option.

I don't know about cutting Alexander. Not sure what is gained by that. I know the suspensions are hanging over him but he's not Josh Gordon wackadoodle and isn't a big expense. Might be another thread altogether but to me Frank might stick

#3249730 NFL Combine-- DL and LBs

Posted by ncfan on 22 February 2015 - 02:19 PM

I'm wanting to know what the big hype on drafting Shaq to come in and play SS. I haven't watched to many highlights of his. Just because he is a good athlete and can hit hard doesn't mean he's going to be a stud SS.

Look at Taylor Mays that came out of USC several years back. Waaaay more athletic and would lay someone out, but hasn't been good in coverage at all. (Btw he's a FA this year if looking for a cheap stop gap at SS)

#3248626 Jaelen Strong

Posted by ncfan on 21 February 2015 - 02:45 PM

Want this kid.

Wasn't to many OT's that stood out to me yesterday as a 1st round guy yesterday.  This WR class is Super deep again.

I've seen several people rush Perriman up the boards, but I think Strong is the #4 WR in this class.  Would be a top 15 guy if it was for White, Cooper, and Parker.

Strong has only played 2 seasons at ASU and posted 2,287 yards and 17 TDs in those 2 seasons.  Going up against some of the top DB's in the Nation in the Pac12 (Alex Carter, Ifo, and Marcus Peters just to name a few)

He is a Very Physical Strong WR with good hands.  A couple guys announcing the combine compared him to Fitzgerald.

Strong just measured up at 6'2 217 at the combine.  Posted a 4.44 40 42" vert and 10'3 broad jump

#3248615 NFL Combine- WR's and RB's

Posted by ncfan on 21 February 2015 - 02:29 PM

He does have big hands, but again I'm not looking for him to be the #2 beside of KB.  Would like to Grab one of those bigger guys in the First (Strong is my guy) then have that smaller Wes Welker guy for the slot.  The Deep man.  Lockett has good concentration and has that speed and quickness.  Also a Good return man.

Lockett has smaller hands than LaFell

This is what Hurney said about LaFell's hands:
Former Panthers general manager Marty Hurney, who drafted LaFell, said the one issue about the big, fluid receiver coming out of LSU was "his ability to catch the ball consistently."
"We knew he had small hands," Hurney said. "We must have spent two weeks talking about his hands. But he always made the catches he had to make."

here are the hand sizes of the top receivers this Draft:

11 Smelter, DeAndre (biggest hands of all receivers)
...
10 3/8 - TE Maxx Williams
...
10 - Cooper, Amari
10 - Hardy, Justin
10 - Diggs, Stefon
...
9 7/8 - Lippett, Tony
...
9 3/4 - Funchess, Devin
...
9 3/8 - Coates, Sammie
9 3/8 - Dorsett, Phillip
...
9 1/4 - Agholor, Nelson
9 1/4 - Goodley, Antwan
9 1/4 - Parker, DeVante
9 1/4 - Perriman, Breshad
9 1/4 - White, Kevin
...
9 - Daniels, DaVaris
9 - Smith, Devin
9 - Strong, Jaelen
9 - Greene, Rashad
9 - Green-Beckham, Dorial
...
8 3/4 - Harper, Josh

8 3/4 - Brandon LaFell <-------------------------------
...

#3248494 Trade up for White!

Posted by ncfan on 21 February 2015 - 12:44 PM

Just stay where we're at and grab strong. Strong put up big #'s despite playing against some of the toughest dbs in the nation. He just posted 4.44 40 42" vert and 10'3 broad. Thankfully White, Cooper, and Parker are in this draft at Strong will be in our range without trading anything

#3247929 NFL Combine Thread - Offensive Line

Posted by ncfan on 20 February 2015 - 04:51 PM

How did Tyrus Thompson and Daryl Williams look?  Those 2 id like to keep an eyes on for a later like 4th round guy to compete for the RT spot.

#3237120 Huddle NFL Combine discourse

Just a pinned thread for the different position groups (OT's, WR's, Db's, etc) would work for me

If Gettleman can get a serviceable LT in FA with us having some cap space to play with.  I'd love to double dip in this deep WR class if the top 2-3 OT's are already off the board.

Jaelen Strong in the first and Greene in the 2nd would be fun to pair with KB.

#3214969 Panthers eyeing Lael Collins, asking Trai about him

Posted by ncfan on 20 January 2015 - 06:54 PM

Draft him and sign a guy like King Dunlap to start at LT while Collins eases into the league at RT. When Collins is ready, flip them

#3208773 List of "Target" FAs that could be a good fit and in our price range.

Posted by ncfan on 17 January 2015 - 11:58 AM

King Dunlap- Shouldn't cost to much.  Would be solid fill at LT so if we Draft OT in the 1st, we could ease the new kid into the league on the right side.

Bruce Carter- Super athlete and solid OLB.  Best scenario to replace TD down the road.  His potential playing under rivera and beside Luke/TD would be Huge. Would give us the best LB's in the whole league next year and would allow us to continue to have a top duo once TD leaves.

DaNorris Searcy- Athletic SS good in run support but solid in coverage.  Been stuck in a Deep defensive backfield in Buffalo.

Brandon Tate- Good return man and solid #3 WR

Nick Fairley- Hasn't lived up to that top hype and bitten by injuries should cause his stock to be pretty low

#3202020 NCFAN's End of Season Dream/Mock Offseason

Posted by ncfan on 12 January 2015 - 11:15 PM

Draft: using the Fanspeak simulator

25: R1P25

WR JAELEN STRONG- Big Athletic ala young Boldin type WR. Strong Physical player with Strong Hands. BPA here lands us not a #2 WR but a #1B WR
ARIZONA STATE

57: R2P25

CB ALEX CARTER- Big Physical corner that fits in perfect across from Norman. Allows Bene to move to the Nickel where many say he should be.
STANFORD

89: R3P25

OT TYRUS THOMPSON- Big Strong OT who would get a good fit at the Right side
OKLAHOMA

121: R4P25

WR TYLER LOCKETT- Speedy athletic slot player
KANSAS STATE

153: R5P25

DT TYELER DIVISION
FRESNO STATE

185: R6P25

DE ANTHONY CHICKILLO
MIAMI (FLA.)

217: R7P25

FB CONNOR NEIGHBORS
LSU

FA:

Cut:
Dwill- Need to open up some $$$. His production on the field has just been nonexistent the last 2-3 years.
Tobert

FA:
Bruce Carter- No I'm not being a Homer here. Carter has Loads of talent. TD, isn't going to be here forever. Carter playing under Rivera with Luke and TD, could unleash a potential Top tier LB. Would make our LB trio the top in the league, and would slide over when TD leaves keeping a Top Duo on our roster.
LT- Have a little more $ to spend this offseason. Get a upgrade to Bell at LT. We filled the Needs at WR, DB, RT, and depth at DL. Use our Cap freedom that we have this year that we haven't had in several years to get a solid OT for the left side.
Da'Norris Searcy- Athletic Safety who has been buried in the defensive backfield in Buffalo.
