#2979498 All of a sudden, 89 getting all the love....

Still love Smitty. I hope he lights up that piece of poo Harper a couple times (in a losing effort).

#2893773 USAToday: Cam is "one of the NFL’s most electric players/took a huge jump...

The defenses progression resulted in wins last year. Cam was never the problem.

Are there really people here bothering to argue with a guy who thinks a 26th pick who shot 33% in the summer league is going to come in and average 20 ppg in the NBA as a rookie?

#2857843 PJ Hairston Appreciation Thread

Posted by Keith Moons Liver on 19 July 2014 - 07:31 AM

I expect pretty much nothing from late 1st round picks in the NBA, and Hairston has delivered. He's been abysmal this summer. I don't put any stock into summer leagues, but I didn't expect much from him this season to begin with and he's certainly done nothing to change that opinion. I still like the pick because he has "potential" and late 1st's are worthless, but he's years away. I get douche chills when I read people on here expecting him to be a major contributor right away.

If they are two consenting adults in love what's the problem.

#2849141 How long will it take before the Charlotte Hornets have a star of their own?

Posted by Keith Moons Liver on 13 July 2014 - 04:16 PM

Just pretend Al is that guy. Otherwise you're in for a very long wait- we aren't going to sign a true star and we couldn't even manage to draft one with high lottery picks never mind mid 1sts.

Winning a playoff game would be a success.

Bosh won free agency.

#2843632 For people questioning the Hayward offer sheet....

Utah will match so it's a moot point.

#2840805 So we all agree Hendo can't be on the roster this year?

May was a pretty solid player when he was healthy. He deserves some blame for being fat and injury prone, but he had legit game.

#2838440 Panthers should sign Tim Howard

Every world cup we hear about how soccer is taking america by storm, how it's the new big sport, blah blah. Then 3 months after the world up everyone forgets about it again.

#2835197 Should we just save our cash?

Posted by Keith Moons Liver on 29 June 2014 - 02:42 PM

This is why the thread was started.  Prove ourselves by being a playoff team for several years and maintain our flexibility through the process.  Why overspend on mid tier talent, then not have the money when we're finally actually a viable landing spot.

By the time we're a "viable landing spot", any contracts we would hand out will have expired or be expiring. You don't win a prize for having a lot of cap space. At some point you have to turn it into basketball players.

#2834987 Rockets declined Chandler Parsons 4th-year option

Posted by Keith Moons Liver on 29 June 2014 - 10:29 AM

You do realize that Parsons and and Hayward shot the same amount of shots per game, the difference is that Parsons field goal percentage was way better than Hayward's.

Oh and playing Hayward at the two when he shot 31% from the three point line last year (worse than Henderson), that's awful.

Finally Parson's averages a full 2.6 points more per game than Henderson... that's definitely not the same.

That's an awfully simplistic way to evaluate stats. Parsons had Dwight Howard and James Harden taking attention away from him. Hayward had... Derrick Favors and Alec Burks? His shooting percentages dropped last season because he took worse shots, not because he suddenly forgot how to shoot. The Jazz downgraded from Millsap and Jefferson to Kanter and Favors. Reunite him with Big Al and he starts getting better looks and the percentages go up.

I don't think he's amazing and I'm not sold on giving him a massive contract, which someone will do, but I still like Hayward better than Parsons for us.

#2819331 Just Some Melo / Barnes Rumors

Posted by Keith Moons Liver on 13 June 2014 - 10:07 PM

Barnes is terrible. Can people please stop talking about this guy? He was bad last year, had a decent playoff series against a very favorable matchup, and then was bad this year. He's not going to flip a switch and live up to his high school hype all of a sudden- he's just not very good.

He's done an amazing job marketing himself. He's a very good player but not worth that kind of money.
