#3335639 Did you know? Cam Newton the pescatarian.

Posted by ThPantherFan on Yesterday, 06:57 AM

Yeah, we knew.

I've pretty much given up beef and pork (except for Thanksgiving and Christmas), and my body feels so much better. Chicken and fish are my thing, but I usually go a couple of days per week without eating meat at all.  Fresh fruits and vegetables are a staple in the house as my wife, a self-described "part-time vegan", eats lots of tomatoes, cucumbers, oranges, apples, etc. as well as beans.  She went from a size 22 to a size 4/5 in a little less than a year and a half.

I'm still coming to your house to drink beer.  That's a vegetable, isn't it?

#3326384 I remember my first beer

Posted by ThPantherFan on 18 April 2015 - 11:43 PM

I think I was 16 or 17 and had been plowing a field for a guy in the middle of summer.  I was using an old Alis-Chalmer tractor with a top exhaust.  The temperature in the sun was hitting 100 and that hot muffler in my face made for a sweaty day.  Being young and dumb I hadn't taken enough water with me and the guy felt sorry for me.  He brought me an ice cold Country Club, pony.  I'll never forget how quick that went down and how quenching it was.  I've loved beer ever since but can't stand Country Club.  Of course this was in the 60's when it wasn't against the law to give a kid alcohol.  Or at least no one cared.

Compare this with Hurney's last 2 drafts....if you want to depress yourself.

Thanks a whole hell of a lot!  Okay, reality check.  Ha!

#3314985 Ten

Posted by ThPantherFan on 07 April 2015 - 05:34 PM

That's the number of players either drafted or signed as undrafted free agents from the past two offseasons that are currently on roster and who either already have become or potentially may be poised to become starters or contributors in some phase of our game next season.

The names...

Wide Receiver Kelvin Benjamin (1st Round, 2014)

Defensive Tackle Star Lotulelei (1st Round, 2013)

Defensive Tackle Kawann Short (2nd Round, 2013)

Defensive End Kony Ealy (2nd Round, 2014)

Guard Trai Turner (3rd Round, 2014)

Free Safety Tre' Boston (4th Round, 2014)

Safety/Cornerback Bene Benwikere (5th Round, 2014)

Linebacker A.J. Klein (5th Round, 2013)
Guard Andrew Norwell (Undrafted, 2014)
Wide Receiver Corey Brown (Undrafted, 2014)

It's been said that players tend to make their most significant improvement going from their first year to their second, and almost as much from the second to the third.  If you believe that, then the ten players  listed above could all possibly show us something in the season to come.

And there are also a few others worth mentioning who could also potentially make a little noise this year...

Runningback Fozzy Whittaker (Waiver Claim from Cleveland, 2014) is a valuable part of the runningback rotation, had arguably the play of the game in the Wild Card

Tackle Mike Remmers (signed from Rams Practice Squad, 2014) goes into this season penciled in as the starter in the right tackle spot

Defensive End Wes Horton (Undrafted, 2013) had made some plays as part of the DL rotation.

Center Brian Folkerts (Street Free Agent, 2013) did decent as a backup when called upon

Cornerback Melvin White (undrafted, 2013) lost his starting spot last year but still contributed and has earned praise from the likes of Steve Smith

Safety Robert Lester (Undrafted, 2013) had a big moment in the victory over the Patriots on Monday Night Football

Tight End Brandon Williams (Street Free Agent, 2013) has flashed potential as a big bodied tight end

Linebacker Adarius Glanton (Undrafted, 2014) showed some flashes playing in a couple of games.

Runningback Darrin Reaves (Undrafted, 2014) looked decent in preseason and a few regular season games before getting hurt last year

Tackle David Foucault (Undrafted, 2014) clearly a project, but had a few decent moments when called upon to play in one game last year

These are all players that have been acquired in the past two years, and they make up a decent percentage of our current roster.  And this isn't even mentioning free agents signed this offseason.  There's also the enigma of Stephen Hill, signed after being released by the Jets last year and with a full season on the Practice Squad now under his belt.  Plus there's these two guys named Kuechly and Newton who are still young and may not have even reached their full potential yet.

Oh, and let's not forget this year's draft is coming up in a few weeks, where we'll have nine picks.

So this, ladies and gentleman, is the younger portion of our current roster building project.

And I don't know about you, but I kinda like it.

That is a good surmise of the talent Gman has accumulated.  I do believe this team is growing into a long run play off contender.  You keep articles like this coming, my friend.  I'll buy you scotch one of these days.  Single malt at that.  None of the blended.

#3297388 The Great Pie Debate - Offseason 2015 Edition

Posted by ThPantherFan on 24 March 2015 - 12:37 PM

Now that depends on the pie.  An apple, peach or cherry pie needs a heavy crust.  I will give that 80 to 90% crust.  Now a chess pie should have a delicate crust.  Those crusts can be made of any cookie type dough in my opinion.  I like a graham cracker or vanilla crust with a lemon chess pie.  Those would be 30 to 40%.  Now you also have to group pot pies into this discussion as well because it was not limited to desert pie.   The question was pie crust so to include the vegetable pot pie you would need a crust around 50 to 60%.  Meat pie would definitely be 100%.  A vegetable and meat pie would fall somewhere in between.  Now I'm hungry.  Damn you Jeremy!

#3294389 Greg Jennings AKA the guy that got Antoine Cason released

Posted by ThPantherFan on 22 March 2015 - 10:34 AM

If we don't have enough cap space to sing him as a WR maybe we can hire him to coach DBs.

What key is that song sung in?  Just messin' with you.

Antoine Cason was released from the Panthers (along with Jason Williams) the Tuesday after the Panthers-Vikings game.

I suspect this play by  WR Greg Jennings (now in talks with the Panthers) may have had something to do with it.
