#3290853 Alan "Blue Balls" Ball leaves Panther offer on table

Posted by Gallagher on 19 March 2015 - 11:45 AM

Last year we was shopping at Goodwill.  This is a Target buy.  Still waiting on a Tiffany buy.

I can tell you exactly who our Tiffany buys are going to be over the next 4 years. Their names are Cam, Luke, Star, Kawann and Kelvin.

#3264510 Panthers Extend Greg Olsen

Posted by Gallagher on 05 March 2015 - 05:28 PM

Panthers TE Greg Olsen 3-year extension worth $22.5mil includes $12mil signing bonus and $7.5mil avg per year, says @RosenhausSports

That's a steal.

"You gotta know how quickly you can get this guy on the field. If you can't get him on the field, then whats the point"

Wouldn't take him earlier than the 3rd.

#3246499 Gettleman Press Conference - LIVE

Do you believe thats Ja'waun James? Dolphins pick.

That's what I was thinking. Couldn't have realistically been looking at Lewan or Matthews. That's interesting that we liked James though, because people said it was a reach for the Dolphins to take him at 19, but it ended up being a good pick in hindsight. Shows that Gettleman really knows his talent evaluation.

"I spoke to Deangelo, we had a great conversation. Its private."

"Deangelo had a tough season, he lost his mom, dedicated the season to her and couldn't stay healthy."

For posting these quotes for those of us who are at work and can't watch the presser live -

#3244900 Time to cut DeAngelo Williams.

Posted by Gallagher on 17 February 2015 - 07:12 PM

I agree that Deangelo is on the decline, and that Stewart should get the majority of the carries next year, but I still believe that Williams is a better back up than most teams in the league have right now.

Cutting him doesn't help our cap much at all. It just creates a whole bunch of dead money. So if money isn't an issue, the question then becomes, "Is DeAngelo Williams worth a roster spot at this stage of his career?"

As a back up, I say yes. He at least deserves a chance to show us if he's still got it or not in training camp.

One of them has to be good

His name is Don.

#3236155 The guys we will be watching in a week or so

Posted by Gallagher on 09 February 2015 - 04:44 PM

I'm interested in seeing La'el Collins. He looked pretty good Senior Bowl week.

Seconded. I'm pretty consistently seeing him as the 3rd OT off the board in mocks which puts him right around in our range. Would be cool to reunite Trai with his old teammate.

#3228436 So when will we start cutting players?

Posted by Gallagher on 02 February 2015 - 12:28 PM

I'm not sure when we will but we can at pretty much anytime now.

Teams have to be under the top-51 cap by March 10. Unlike the past few years we are under the cap, so we don't have to cut or restructure anyone just to get under that number.

Here is a list of key dates:

http://www.cbssports...edules/keydates

Great Link. My highlights:

February 17th: Combine

March 10th: Free Agency

April 20th: OTAs

April 30th: Draft

May 8th-18th: Rookie Mini Camp

June: Straight nothing

At least we'll have about one big event a month for the next few months going forward. Got to get that football fix.

#3204881 Will Josh Norman command a big contract next offseason?

Posted by Gallagher on 14 January 2015 - 02:37 PM

Cam Newton
Luke Kuechly
Greg Olsen
Thomas Davis
Mike Tolbert
Josh Norman

That is a scary list of free agents coming up next year. Hopefully we can:

1. Sign Newton to a long term franchise QB contract. 7 years $110 mil or something like that. Whatever it takes really.

2. Pick up the 5th year option on Kuechly so we can space out the spending between Cam and Luke.

3. Give TD a reasonable 2 year contract so he can retire a Panther

4. Sign Olsen to a 4-5 year contract if the price is right (Olsen worries me the most, as we might not be able to afford him)

5. Extend Norman this year while he's still cheap as it's looking like he's going to continue to establish himself as a premiere corner next year

6. Let Tolbert walk. I love him, but we haven't used him effectively since he's been here and he'll be 30 next year.

That's my 2 cents anyway.

#3200622 McDermott to interview with Jets

I think Wilks would make a fine DC. What he got out of Boston, Benewikere and Norman this year has been impressive.

#3187205 Any huddles going to Seattle for the game?

Posted by Gallagher on 08 January 2015 - 02:51 PM

I to want to meet up on Saturday..... Just was passing the word on the Friday thing I found.

Good poo on the Friday meetup. May or may not swing by for that, my flight gets in just a few hours before then.

We ought to coordinate a meet up for tailgating, a specific spot in the parking lot for Panther fans to gather or something.
