Ya know, a little cautious optimism in this area is not so big a stretch as some folks think.
If Trai Turner lives up to the first impressions he's given, the interior line could be the best it's been in a while, and that's a pretty big deal.
Solid protection inside gives the quarterback the ability to 'step up' in the pocket. That makes it easier for the tackles to handle speed rushers, especially given that type of pass rusher has a natural tendency to overrun targets sometimes anyway. Mind you, they still have to be able to stand their ground with power rushers, but these days most of the league's DEs are speed rushers.
Add in besides the optimism for the interior line, Nate Chandler looks like he might be a decent LT. And yes, Bell could be improved. It's been known to happen.
Could they turn out awful? Sure. But it's not the slam dunk people make it out to be.
Agreed. I read a tweet today that said Dwan Edwards beat Trai Turner bad today with a swim move. I immediately thought to my self that isn't a bad thing...... I want to hear the good with the bad.... The comments about Trai have mostly been good things. The young fellow needs to learn from the vets in practice so he will be ready when he faces real competition. I have a feeling he will be really good. I just don't know how long it will take.
