As per Twitter.

The #Panthers have signed FS Thomas DeCoud to a two-year contract. READ: http://pnth.rs/1n0ck05  pic.twitter.com/EEzNApFo0T

Edit: That moment when I'm too slow for the Huddle, but still faster than Joe Person.

CHARLOTTE – Veteran safety Thomas DeCoud, a 2012 Pro Bowler for the Atlanta Falcons, has signed a two-year contract with the Panthers.

"Thomas provides a veteran in the secondary who is familiar with the NFC South and has been a very solid player," head coach Ron Rivera said. "We are pleased to add him to a safety group that has good experience and production."

A third-round draft choice by the Falcons in 2008 out of California, DeCoud started all but two games from 2009-13, intercepting 14 passes over his six seasons in Atlanta while amassing 507 tackles and 29 passes defensed. He topped 100 tackles in each of his first three seasons as a starter before making the Pro Bowl following the 2012 season on the strength of a career-high six interceptions.

DeCoud had 83 tackles this past season and recorded his first career touchdown with a 30-yard return of a fumble. He became a free agent when the Falcons released him March 11.

DeCoud is the third defensive back – the second with Pro Bowl credentials - that played for another team last season to sign with the Panthers over the last three-and-a-half weeks. The others are safety Roman Harpericon-article-link.gif – a two-time Pro Bowler in eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints - and veteran cornerback Antoine Casonicon-article-link.gif, a first-round pick in 2008 who has never missed an NFL game.

It's been a busy few days for the Panthers, who re-signed defensive tackle Colin Coleicon-article-link.gif and signed wide receiver Jason Avanticon-article-link.gif and tight end Ed Dicksonicon-article-link.gif earlier in the week.

#2693117 CHILL THE FUG OUT

Thread/Post of the week. I know the Huddle is bad, but its just awful right now. Everyone needs to STFU, calm down, and let the GMan do his work.

HE'S DIGGING OURSELVES OUT OF A HUGE CAP HOLE.

#2666978 Steve Smith on Gettleman's "Evaluation" comment

Posted by Miiikey on 26 February 2014 - 12:16 PM

One of the biggest mistakes to get rid of him, if true. He's an icon. Sure hes not mid-20s and getting double figure TDs now but his impact is huge. He brings the fight every single goddamn time. I'm pissed its even a rumour.

#2611793 With the 28th pick in the NFL draft

Gettleman likes the hog mollies. I say he goes O-Line first, then WR. Cam HAS to get a weapon.. Preferably a taller/big framed WR

#2505320 Mike Mitchell on Drew Brees "Stop being soft"

The 2 Saints games will probably decide our year.. I like Mitchell going at them already, just don't lose focus.

#2462154 Please don't tell me where to watch the game live online

Posted by Miiikey on 03 November 2013 - 11:58 AM

If I wanted to tour California coast, I would make my journey P2P (pier to pier). I would google it first though to make sure I get the correct pier destination / address.

And when I go to watch a game, I make sure to sit in the first row of the sports game.

#2453421 If we miss the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6 and still fire Rivera.. We deserve to...

Stopped reading at "Cam is playing like Peyton Manning".

Damn, I wish I could rock those just out and around the town..

#2345456 Ginn

If he can catch, which hes been doing well of tonight, he'll be getting the ball. Great weapon.

#2327834 Mike Tolbert?

Posted by Miiikey on 18 August 2013 - 01:01 PM

I think he is hugely underrated. A majority of most other teams would utilise him a lot more, we just have a "nice luxury" of Dwill, Jstew and now Barner too.

I love the bowling ball though give him the rock!!

#2310263 Breaking: The season is looking a little brighter...

Was this an offseason trade? I approve of this trade.

#2307223 Panthers Release Hangartner

Posted by Miiikey on 01 August 2013 - 10:49 AM

Hangartner sucked last year, he became a liability. Sure, use him as a backup but not with that contract, and I doubt he'd be happy taking a significant pay cut either.

Good move. poo getting real in Panther nation. I'm sure theres 1 or 2 vets in the wings to sign.

Damn, last I saw we were about a million behind. Nice work, Panther Nation. First win of the season and this already has me talking poo to my niner friend.

#2297631 Final uniform contest thread

Posted by Miiikey on 24 July 2013 - 11:13 AM

Im sure Im stating the obvious but its so fuging clear how the NFL favours big teams.. I've noticed at least 5 times this week of NFL twitter and Facebook accounts retweeting for the Niners, but absolutely zero recognition on Panthers (in regards to this uniform popularity contest).

Its sickening. I know its just for fun, but fug me. Get your tongue out of SF buttholes, NFL. Give us some recognition.
