#3333557 why are neo-confederates and other varieties of white supremacist so attracte...

Ahhh, now I know exactly where you are coming from. People like you seek to somehow obfuscate and minimize the extremely deleterious effects of slavery by passing the buck (at least you didn't use the tired excuse "well Africans were the ones doing the selling"), by falsely claiming that the civil war was not in large part motivated by the desire of Southerners to protect their "peculiar institution", and by claiming that slave owners were altruistic souls who released slaves upon their deaths. Such bullshit haha. All to somehow minimize the disgusting effects of that institution. Hopefully people see your pathetic attempts to rewrite history for what they are...which is namely bullshit.

The founders of the confederacy said on multiple occasions that their new organization of states was being founded on the principle that blacks were inferior to whites. They basically formed an organization of states based on protecting the institution of slavery. Neo-confederates are idiots. You probably own a couple of dixie outfitter t-shirts haha.

#3332582 I don't post in here much but...

Twice today I have had issues with the automatic paper towel dispenser in two different places.

The issue is that when I waive my hand under it, they are not registering and dispensing a towel. If this only happened once, no big deal, but this has happened twice in the same day in two totally different places. What the fuck am I supposed to do with wet hands???

Thoughts?

first thing you should do is call the local schools and make sure they have a plan in place for this

the percentage of of black people voting for a black democrat over a white democrat is statistically insignificant. to make an assertion to the contrary is to assert that black people don't vote on issues, they only vote on race.

is anyone here willing to make the assertion that black people are too dumb to vote on issues so they just go HURR BLACK GUY and submit their ticket?

it's always that they're dumb and lazy and want free stuff. that's why they don't vote for the people who maintain that they're dumb lazy parasites

I don't see what conservatives are so upset about. It's pretty easy to tell from Hillary's new logo that she wants to move the country to the right.attachicon.gifImageUploadedByCarolinaHuddle1429028072.079388.jpg

#3328040 Is discussing white crime taboo?

Posted by google larry davis on 20 April 2015 - 05:46 PM

i haven't really read this thread but imo discussion of white crime doesnt appear to be taboo, though discussing it in the terms typically reserved for black crime is generally unacceptable.

specifically the ominous future that appears on the horizon as we not only ignore the past but actively seek to return

this is true but i think you can work to achieve a greater understanding of the motives of both sides without necessarily defending the slaver confederates. i take issue with diminishing the role of slavery, but i am receptive to arguments that there were contributing factors

iraq was about tyranny and terror though. specifically the brand of tyranny and terror exported by the US in bulk

The south seceded because Lincoln won without a single southern vote.

They had felt overburdened with taxation and felt legislatively forced to trade with the North which was making the north rich and hurting southern economy by a majority northern Congress.

They felt powerless and oppressed (which is ironic considering the issue of slavery that they were well aware of)

Many states in the south were open to a phased end to slavery over time to mitigate economic damages that would come from an abrupt immediate abolishment of slavery and freedom of those slaves. It is how many northern states ended slavery.

The Civil War did not come out of just the election of Lincoln it had built over the course of about 30 years. Lincoln's election was a final straw.

There was a huge amount of slaves in the south, but only a few people owned them. I think only @17% of southerners owned any slaves and only @5% had more than 1 slave.

Point being, the issue of slavery was only a part of the broader context of economy. The Civil War is about what every other war is really about. Economy and power.

Don't get me wrong, slavery was definitely an issue, but it was a secondary issue to the larger issues that led to secession.

That is my take anyway. I feel like the Civil War has been sanitized and dumbed down to make sure we believe the northern cause was just and right to perseve our patriotism.

the actual changes made in the constitution of the confederate states sure seem to suggest otherwise. slavery may not have been the only reason, but their words indicate it was the primary reason

and just because most ppl didn't own slaves doesn't really mean that non-slaveowners wouldn't have supported the institution. look no further than the wage slaves of today who reliably vote in the interests of the wealthy. just as today the bulk of republicans and really supporters of capitalism are temporarily embarrassed millionaires, a subsect of the southern population were temporarily embarrassed slavers. not to mention the persistent white supremacist thought that existed then and has carried on to the present

If business can't survive paying a living wage they are bad at business.

Reminds me when south said agriculture couldn't survive without free labor

it must be pretty infuriating for good businessmen to see capital being wasted by idiots who can't run a business without government subsidizing the paychecks of their employees. this of course assuming that capitalism could ever function well without the state holding its hand every step of the way (outside of the classroom of course)

on one hand the cops should have went in with a better plan and not killed anyone but otoh they showed a relatively high degree of restraint (relative to literal executions) after poo got out of hand. does anyone else think more of that family would be dead after the cop got shot with his own gun, if they had failed the paper bag test?

#3319711 Cops shooting another unarmed dude and then talking poo to him as he dies

Posted by google larry davis on 12 April 2015 - 04:41 PM

i like the obvious implication that everyone is facing this level of oppression but "the left" only cares because black people are finally being oppressed as well. cops aren't coming for your guns. they're not going to shoot you for not paying taxes. if you're white you're actually relatively safe to carry and use drugs, among other crimes (statistically less likely to be stopped, searched, charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced). "the left" has been pointing out how racist our society is for some time now while the right has attempted to co-opt and pervert left wing messaging

ive asked this question here many many times now and ive never gotten a straight answer: if the existence of the state is the cause of the black community's troubles, why then do they overwhelmingly support its existence while remaining very suspicious of the arguments of those who claim to "care about the rights of everyone"? why do they keep voting for liberals when it's so obvious that liberals are the True Racists™ and the good dr paul has their best interest in mind? why do they chant "hands up don't shoot" and tweet "#blacklivesmatter" when they could be chanting "defeat the washington machine, unleash the american dream" and voting republican?

Hey guys remember a couple of years ago when 90% of the tinderbox poo-pooed "cop threads" on the basis of hyperbole of the use of the term "police state".

Glad it took only a bajillion of these happening and black people getting super pissed everywhere for some of you on the left to even give a sh*t.

Good times.

yeah all of a sudden police are treating black people like poo and suddenly everyone cares

90% of posters may have "poo pooed" cop threads but it may have had something to do with the OP of 90% of cop threads being pasty libertarians who simultaneously deny institutional racism yet decry our nazi police state that sends MEN WITH GUNS to collect taxes
