#3249547 NFL Combine-- DL and LBs

Posted by Byrdman4real on 22 February 2015 - 12:35 PM

Lmao. I know you know.. but..

Theres gunna be that guy in this thread who believes a DL 40 time matters..

What matters is their burst and acceleration and most importantly lateral quickness.

If we need to rely on a NT to run 40 yards downfield to make a tackle we got some issues folks

^this man gets "it"

Link poster is broken, but I remember that rant from The Replacements

"I gotta pay 5% to my agent, 3% to my publicist, I got child support, and do you know how much insurance costs on a Ferrarri mothafugger?!"

LOL yeah that's my movie

#3248519 NFL Combine- WR's and RB's

Posted by Byrdman4real on 21 February 2015 - 12:55 PM

If we were take Strong at 25 I'd want another WR to compliment his skill set in the mid-rounds. He and Kelvin, with Philly and another deep threat that can play the slot would be ideal.

I would draft Strong and Greene

It would kill our WR needs

#3247856 Is 'BPA, or be damned' a flaw with Gettleman's draft philosophy?

Posted by Byrdman4real on 20 February 2015 - 03:27 PM

As is the case every year, going BPA isn't some random fortune cookie sliver of ancient football wisdom that most of this board seems to think it is. It's a reference to picking the best player available *on your board* A board that is assembled through a variety a of factors-one of those factors being gasp! Need.

#3247834 Sounds like the Bucs will pick Jameis Winston

Posted by Byrdman4real on 20 February 2015 - 03:08 PM

He's interviewing really really well right now. Kind of hoping the Bucs don't end up taking him. I wouldn't be too worried because Lovie is a terrible HC for young QBs, but I'm starting to like Winston and don't want him in our division.

It's a done deal already. Sounds like bucs told him he's their pic.

#3247371 NFL Combine Thread - Offensive Line

Posted by Byrdman4real on 20 February 2015 - 09:38 AM

Not really. They'll look at the split times, and the cone drills to get the best idea. OL/DL is more about burst within 5-10 yards. Can't expect much, outside of that range, from 300+ pound men.

Some DL can drop back in zone, so he got to have some kind of quickness.

#3247344 Panthers met with Texas A&M OT Cedric Ogbuehi

Posted by Byrdman4real on 20 February 2015 - 09:09 AM

no earlier than the 4th. I understand the idea of stockpiling players/re-investing in the future but that has HORRIBLY backfired on teams like the 49ers, and until recently, the Pats. The 9ers were primed to dominate for years with their picks and couldn't manage to do it, because they kept investing down the road. If you have time to win in the NFL, you go for it no questions asked. I want players that can make an impact early on in rounds 1 and 2. KK and Kony both did, and they didn't have a huge injury risk.

Exactly

#3245617 Does Carolina Pass up on Offensive Tackle at 25?

Posted by Byrdman4real on 18 February 2015 - 03:08 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if a DE is the first pick

wait, I thought Lovie just said that Glennon is their franchise QB...

Lovie's talking out his ass

#3236691 Notable NFL writer, Jason Cole: "Extremely unlikely" Hardy is suspend...

Posted by Byrdman4real on 09 February 2015 - 11:59 PM

Always the most prudent and judicious position.

You damn right, no one knows what the organization really is going to do. People need to just chill and hope for the best for Hardy and the panthers. Both has been through a lot from the press and the NFL. The right decision will be made for both parties.

I know one thing: I ain't believing poo about Hardy's status until it's official.

Edit: And that includes information coming from anyone in the Charlotte media.

^ This is why I haven't said a damn thing yet.

#3218515 Hurney on Pats: Culture of Cheating

Posted by Byrdman4real on 23 January 2015 - 08:04 PM

I suppose you could say that and feel good about it, but you are aware that Goodell destroyed the evidence after spygate? Many feel that he found much more than what was reported and did not want the integrity of the game to take such a beating. Marty Hurney thinks they did tape practices, and he had people tell him they did. He was closer to this than either one of us. Who polices the NFL? Nobody. It is an honor system, where rule violators must be reported. You know the politics behind coming forward, right?

To say they did not is inaccurate. To say that they were never exposed is more like it. Just my 2cents.

You damn right he destroyed the evidence, can you imagine how much the image of the NFL would have suffered from a team cheating and winning super bowls from it. The situation was probably deeper then anyone know.

What's crazy is even though they could have cheated, it was a hell of a game. I'm still bitter about it.
