Gross retired... he was not cut by DG so don't blame DG for LT issues. Legendary WR don't win you games, playmakers do. Unfortunately, Steve Smith is a shell of a playmaker. Watching Smitty getting chased down by linebackers last year was painful to watch. Smitty is no more than #2 or #3 WR but he's getting paid like top 10 WR in the league. If you insert smitty as your #1 WR, you guranteed a limp dick offense. Team's will single cover slow Smitty, allowing them to bring safeties closer to line of screamage and take away our run game (something that happened A LOT last year). They will be able to effectively blitz Cam and completely destroy our offense. You add 2 fast WR that can stratch the field on each side, defenses will have to move safeties deep for extra support. Less blitzer and better run game.
Last year I witness many times when teams would blitz their corner and their LB would perfectly cover Smitty. LB on WR should be a mismatch and should lead to at least 1st down but it wasn't many times.
You either have never met and talked to him....or don't know people who know him. Because you are wrong. He is not the sweet likable peson that you want to think he is.
He actually is,my buddy ran into him outside of dicks and he actually stayed and talked for a minute. Even signed autographs. That was on his own personal time, he could have just gotten in his car and left
"AceBoogie", believe it or not, the Panthers were around before Cam Newton.
They were also around before Steve Smith, and will be around after him.
Let the poo work itself out before you kill yourself. Damn.
I was a panther fan long before Cam, but I'll tell you one thing Cam is the best qb we've ever had and Steve is the best player we've ever had and it's not close. Cam Newton's don't fall off fuging trees. Look at the qbs coming out every year. Cam Newton is rare. You don't put hubcaps on a Lamborghini
Nicks is talented, I don't think there are many who will dispute that. But there are concerns. You can't blame Eli Manning, or his other teammates for Nicks missing team meetings in the same losing season in which he was publicly declaring to the media that he is one of the best receivers in the league, while also failing to reach the end zone even once.
If a player has that many receptions and yards and no touchdowns, there is something else going on other than him just failing to reach the end zone. Play calling, offensive scheme, qb decision making, a lot goes into play. He had more yards than anyone on our roster.
If the Panthers can work out a long-term deal with Hardy, then we have no reason to want to trade him.
You chicken-littles are too worried about letting h go for nothing when we are gonna need every bit of his 14 sacks to her us back into the playoffs...which is what we should be expecting with or without Mitchell, Ginn and Gross.
I never ever, never ever, ever ever, never want any of our LTs present or future to have to go up against the Kraken. NEVER
Greg Hardy hasn't shown up in big games. Most of those sacks came against nobodies. Let's not forget how much he benefits from playing next to Star, KK, and CJ. In the two games that CJ didn't play, Wes Horton had more sacks than Hardy. He's a great young player, but he's not worth 13 mil.
I think you're getting a wee bit confused. Nobody is saying he shouldnt or wouldnt be upset. But it happens all the time in football, the falcons want Osi to take a cut after 1 season there.
And if you think all co-workers doing the exact same job get paid the same and its all based on working hard you're in for a rude awakening.
Lol you make assumptions without knowing me. You say I'm in for a "rude awakening" without even knowing my status in life. I know people don't get paid equal. I make more than people that do the same job I do. My point is that in a team sport, it hurts chemistry. You can't tell a guy like Steve Smith that he needs to take a paycut because he isn't worth the money. Then at the same time your throwing the bank at another player who may not even be the best d lineman on the team. Steve doesn't get to play next to Star, and CJ, KK, and Edwards. Teams can't ignore CJ like they can ignore Lafell.
You can't put a value on Steve Smith's worth when he isn't surrounded by the same talent. He's had to carry the WR load for basically his entire career. Meanwhile you have Greg Hardy who is allowed to make plays and beef up his numbers because of the talent that surrounds him.
Steve Smith came out AFTER injury and gave everything he had for this team in the playoffs. Where was Greg Hardy? Counting his dollars. I'll take a guy like Steve any day of the week, it's not all about money to him, but your not going to disrespect him either. He's given too much to this team for them to even ponder releasing him with no other WRs on the roster.
