#2612111 locker room closed...players emotional.

Posted by PghPanther on 13 January 2014 - 07:34 AM

Failure is part of success......................when you fail..........you must learn from that failure and inspire you to carry on to succeed.

Babe Ruth slugged more home runs than whole leagues when he played............but struck out more than any other player.

Michael Jordan lost over 300 game in this life missing the final shot in those games..........need I say what he has accomplished otherwise?

The Beatles signed with the EMI records after being rejected by 297 recording companies in the UK......it was the last remaining one in the UK.

AJ Foyt as a rookie in the 1958 Indy 500 lost his hero on the first lap crash (Pat O'Conner) and wanted to get out of the car and quit right then and there..........but persevered to go on and run more 500's than any other (35 in a row as a driver) and became the 1st four time winner of the event and the most Indy car wins in history (67)..........

With over 600 dry wells dug Edwin Drake, out of investor money and ready to leave the next day from the Pennsylvania fields tried one more well the day he planned to leave and struck oil..............changing the world forever.

Sam Mills made it more direct to learn this lesson.............."Keep Pounding"

Been though this topic before.............the media is a commercially driven business compensated by their ratings..............their information and opinion is slated to that information which applies to the largest audience as possible.

.......larger audiences equals better ratings.

.......better ratings equal more revenue.

Last I checked, its still a commercial media market out there.

So what is a small market sports team to do with the media?

Exactly what Al Davis had said..................Just win baby...........Just win.

#2599531 Bay Area Writer: Kaepernick One-Read QB, Cam Actually Reads Defenses

Posted by PghPanther on 10 January 2014 - 08:23 AM

Intelligent execution on the grid iron doesn't always equate to cognitive problem solving measured in testing scores........that arena resides in the area of game planning and reading defenses during snap counts.......

........the real performance in the pocket whether passing or scrambling for a QB is a short term sensory reaction to environmental stimuli such as found in nature under the "fight or flight" syndrome.......

In that regard, Cam is showing superior skill sets to that short term reaction to a defense with his 3rd/4th down conversions and late game winning drives.

This is inherited within your neurological network system and is more genetic than nurtured........

Any serious student of sports medicine knows that champions are born with that potential more than they are acquired.

(Title: Silver and Son)

The wisps of grey; swept at times.........below his brow, eyes survey the lines.

The grid had its calling; in green spouting of life........left only to observe, beyond its strife.

Once found in championship; a heart royal and strong...........takes but now, the beat of another, to carry on.

So a yearning springs; before one's life departs...........for a shading of time, at the journey's end.

Upon those lines; arrives such passion in flash...........bright eyes, swift ways; in claims of pride.

The wisps of grey; embrace this streak............deep they share, such lofty goals to seek.

For both stare straight; into the twilight that remains........one in life, whilst the other in game.

It is but the ring they seek; to shine greatest this once..........to arrive at zenith, beyond a mortal's explore.

Desired to share; with all those they love............to tell child on knee, "Oh! What stories did we!"

Embrace they would; in tears of life............they find noble coupling, of uncommon strife.

All glory is fleeting; the conqueror knows........hands in grasps, before it shows.

For the moment is ripe; harvest to crop........silver and son, will embrace yet once more.

It's our time to share...........the greatest glory to shine!

...........to give once for all.............those rings worn in pride.

(Dedicated to Steve Smith and Mr. Jerry Richardson)

#2597467 Let's PRETEND we win sunday... who do you want to play in NFCC?

Posted by PghPanther on 09 January 2014 - 06:59 AM

SanFran will be a very physical game.............the drain of a West Coast game on physical recovery along with facing an even more physical team like the Hawks is a scenario the prudent would shun.......

Give me Saints at home.........less physical team and no travel issues.

That said it ain't going to happen as far as the Saints winning in Seattle.

Yeah I agree. Put it all on the line, empty the playbook while also playing responsibly. People call certain teams "lucky" in the playoffs, but honestly that's what it takes at this point in the season. A little bit of luck and trickery and do some stuff you haven't done before.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...........

#2589890 It Is Officially Game Week! How Are You Preparing For Sunday?

Posted by PghPanther on 05 January 2014 - 09:06 PM

After struggling to find full time employment with a good future I have secured that opportunity and this will be my first week of work. I will want to come out of the gate like gang busters at work and will focus on that..........hopefully it will just make the week go fast and bring game day sooner..........

We should make a Pittsburgh Panthers!!!!

That will show them!!!

Oh...wait....

Did you see my handle??

People think it is for Pitt Panthers..........but no it is a Panther fan from Pittsburgh now living in Charlotte.

Now let me tell you guys something about that NC Steeler stuff..................I knew the Rooney family growing up in Pgh, they lived in my neighborhood.......

.....and I can tell you that Art Rooney Sr. the man who founded the Steelers would prefer that the Steelers image remain in Pgh...

...as he once stated, "Anyone is welcome to root for us but the team belongs to the people in the city of Pgh." I don't think he'd like to see something like those items................simply because the team belongs to its home city.

Now that stated some of you may enjoy the fact that I have been in many departments stores and sports stores through malls in the Pittsburgh area and they are loaded with UNC, Duke and NC state jersey's, banners etc............LOL!!!

Jut a note here..........when I moved down here in 98 I immediately became a fan of the Panthers since they were in the NFC but over time I have dropped of my interest in the Steelers to where I don't even care about them anymore.....

.......to be honest, they have  been going down hill for me ever since Art. Rooney, Sr. died.........and all those great players from the 70's retired.........

#2582445 Officially Concerned about the Offense

Posted by PghPanther on 03 January 2014 - 01:13 PM

Does ANYONE disagree with McNutt getting more snaps?

Nope not at all.......

I saw a highlight tape of his college days and he is a gamer.............but trying to morph into a pro system of route running and play calling during the playoffs is really a tough call.

#2579904 Officially Concerned about the Offense

Panthers are somewhat an anomaly here in the post season.................I don't see another team that has such a wide spread in the talent and execution comparison between their defense and offense than the Panthers.

Our issues with the Offense are such that without our defense we are probably not in the playoffs at all...............but............

Despite the lack of execution in our offense they have come up big in late game heroics.................and that is an anomaly.

Most of the great late game drives are from offenses that are loading with talent.

Cam is the X factor in that anomaly from my prospective but you have to wonder how many times can we dig into that well and come up successful?

#2577757 Biggest play of each game of the year

Posted by PghPanther on 31 December 2013 - 01:59 PM

Great thread...........

I will go with the refusal to go on 4 and 1 during the Buffalo game which would have positioned us to win the game.........that loss threatened the integrity of the whole season and took a deer in the headlight look of a head coach into a Riverboat Ron risk taking approach that was a confidence building experience for both the team, staff and fans.

#2577722 Origin of Peter King's hate on Cam

Posted by PghPanther on 31 December 2013 - 01:49 PM

Immaturity on the part of a so called professional in the media.

In the media it is about what you cover not about you.......... or how those you cover respond to you.........

This attitude in the media is a result of the 24/7 coverage and competition by large corporate broadcasting firms. They give a sense of deluded grandeur to some media members that are more interested in attempting to create their own legacy rather those they report on.

Journalist Ernie Pyle and Radio reporter Edward R. Murrow covered WW2 and became iconic legends................by covering their subject, not inflating themselves.

You think this slew of so called media personal today never study the history of their craft.

Do you think Vin Scully would have shunned Sandy Koufax if he would have had an experience like that?

Grow up Mr. King....suck up your ego and report the greatness that unfolds in front of you.....

#2577370 Take a step back and enjoy this playoff run.

One of the thing I've learned in my 60 years in life so far is to absorb and soak in those special moments.........because they pass quickly into memory just like life itself.

I suggest in those special moments you witness in life is to stop and reflect as to how special it is to be conscious human life at that moment, to absorb it all in like a mental sponge and promise yourself will remember how you felt at this very moment for the rest of your life.

Remember, as the slave told the Roman soldier.........."All glory is fleeting"

As someone who watched first hand an NFL team win 4 super bowls in a 6 year span.........even all those passed so quickly.

Enjoy the moment everyone.......enjoy it.
