#2917787 Other NFL cuts of interest....

Posted by TheRumGone on Yesterday, 10:12 PM

Yeah, we may sign one guy, but I doubt it.

Gettleman's M.O. , or preference at least, seems to be find the guys yourself and develop them, for better or for worse.

more like long term gratification than immediate.

if we had 60 million in cap space like the Raiders did i SERIOUSLY doubt DG would be sitting on his hands

#2916842 Death Anxiety....The Root of All Ego and Culture.

Posted by TheRumGone on Yesterday, 02:03 PM

Most people automatically attach negative connotations behind the word "ego."  Primarily because as a society we asssociate the term with greed, pretentiousness, and the inflation of one's ideals over another human beings.  While most of us have pondered what fuels the turbine in our own egotistical engine the answer always remains enigmatic and unclear....preventing people as a whole from internal improvement and an overall modus operandi involving less day-to-day anxiety.   The ego itself is the buffer between our living purpose and a meaningless existence that comes with the mother of all worst case scenarios:  We're all just spinning on a rock going through the motions and nothing happens after death thereby nullifying any meaning of life. On a small scale ego is good, it's what makes us brush our teeth, buckle our seatbelts, and in general try to be safe and healthy.  However when our ego feels threatened....when someone attempts to pop the ideas and beliefs that comprise a person's safe bubble that's when problems and violence arrives.

Looking at the broader spectrum of events to include past and present cultures and civilizations, a similar application of egotism can be applied on a grander scale.  A person trying to find meaning to their life will inevitably crave the acceptance of like minded people for the comfort it provides their ego (the Huddle is a good example of this). The logic:  the more people that believe in a single set of ideals and beliefs, the more comfort it provides the ego because it's easier to believe that the ideals are true.  This is how modern day civilization came about, from the tribes of Africa to the imperialistic UK, to Nazi Germany, and to the modern day U.S.  Each country, tribe, religion promote an established set of symbols that represents their populations belief set.  When one country challenges the collective ego of another it actually challenges the collective death ideal of that country.  In sort of a massive sociological phenomena the offended country will want to stomp out the challenging party to regain the stability of their death ideal because if their ideas are succesfully challenged.....what was the meaning of it all?. Most of all countries do this typically without knowing that death anxiety is the reason why.  This is what's happening in the Middle East right now.   So in essence patriotism in one's country, and to-a-fault faith in one's religion actually create the overall problem of war, violence, and intolerance.   That tolerance in itself is such a test of our individual and collective ideals and morality that if we chose to be tolerant we would have to abandon and question everything we've thought to be true.  If you will the death of our individual and collective egos.

So my question to you is......how do we solve the problem?

lsd....tons of lsd....

but seriously. i had an epiphany some years back that completely shattered everything and brought me down to my knees. It was an awful yet enlightening, humbling experience. i still question myself daily which brings on new-found perspectives and massive amounts of anxiety.

russell brand videos were posted in some threads awhile back. his visions of the future are admirable, like your attempts in this thread to get some plan of action, but inevitably fruitless. Mankind clings onto the ego because the other side is so fuging scary. we are all so fuging scared. scared of death, scared about lack of money, scared about lack of acceptance, scared about lack of feeling like we belong. american society and pop culture has pushed that in our faces now more than ever. i've thought about this a lot and it's our curse. in the end, we are all one and we are all alone at the same time.  If we ALL recognize that we are all one, great things will happen to humanity. but me typing this doesn't mean a damn thing.

#2916338 Is Cam Newton Really A Franchise QB

Posted by TheRumGone on Yesterday, 11:26 AM

This is sometimes why I think to myself that Cam would have a better fanbase elsewhere instead of charlotte. Maybe the Oakland Raiders where they yearn for success so much that they would love and appreciate Cam and not take him for granted like the OP and many panther fans do.

dude 98% of the carolinas fuging love Cam.
